Hi there, ive been referred to thefertility clinic at Glasgow Royal infirmary. Got my first appointment tomorrow.
Im 38 and weve been ttc for 6-7 months. My OH seems completely unenthusiastic about the whole thing. I asked him to go to his gp to do a sample, as my gp advised (different practices) and he hasnt bothered. Im really worried that they won't see us without this. I've had by cd21 bloods which came back ok, and i temp so know im ovulating. Another potential issue is that im quite overweight bmi is 34. Will they just send us away and tell us to deal with the weight/submit semen sample? I really dont know what to expect.
Any advise?
Thanks, C.

Hi I know everywhere is different. I was referred to the consultant gyanecologist and was nervous for first appointment too. He was lovely. Carried out an internal ultrasound and although I have PCOS he said uterus and ovaries looked good. They carried out Day 3 bloods as AF had arrived couple days before I went. He asked me to get Day 21 done with GP. He got DH info to refer him to fertility clinic for SA. Next appointment was for a HSG I had it in May. Due to address mess up dh SA appointment got cancelled so another referral had to be done still waiting on the new one!! Once he has all this we will go for a follow up to discuss options hopefully! My bmi is over 35 - I'm at Slimmimg World reducing this. Consultant just nicely said obviously a healthy diet and exercise would help improve chances! Don't worry look at it as a positive step that you are progressing forward with the issue.

Thanks so much, that puts my mind at ease a little. Suppose I'll just have to see how it goes. Don't want to be wasting anyone's time.

Hi how did you get on today?

CNizzle · 11/07/2018 00:14

It was fine! Took abot 30 mins, had my height/weight done (BMI 33.4) doc saw us and explained that the criteria has recently changed and no interventions will be carried out until after ttc for 2 years! So at 7 months (properly trying. I actually came off BC in november16, but i forgot to say this to him) were not elligible for anything. Unless there is a reason for infertility. OH got a proper referal for SA whuvh i was worried sbout, and we got a next appointment for October. Im also on the waiting list for a HSG which may be up to 4 months. If there is an explaination for infertility, then we can discuss some options next time. Feeling a bit more relaxed about it all now. And also feel like my OH is on the same page. Thanks for your input. In the meantime i need to get my bmi below 30 before the next appointment. Need to get back on SW!!

7 months ttc is nothing! Try not to fret. It look18 months for my first. The second was the first month of trying! No reason for it
