How many tests did you take after BFP?

So yeah, how many tests did you take after you got your bfp "just to check" or because you didnt believe it or just because?

Ive taken 3 and the fear of getting a negative is stopping me doing another one (plus think DH would class me as bonkers)
I dont really want to take anymore if im only going to waste my money and would rather enjoy my first cpl of weeks (well im 10+4 now i think)

I done digitalis every week from 1-2 until 3+ and I only stopped because it wouldn't go any higher than 3+ then I done normal pregnancy tests every couple of days for a week or so. I'm sure it would have been easier to just buy shares in a PG test company 😆

BigCarrot · 07/07/2018 11:08

6, and I still didn't believe any of them until I saw the scan!

PeachQueen · 07/07/2018 11:33

I did 14!

The fact id previously been told I was Iinfertile, had ivf that didn't work & only one ovarie, I just couldn't believe I was pregnant naturally!

The fact that I'd left a bad marriage where I was totally miserable and under pressure to give him a child and that I was now blissfully happy with my new partner I believe played a HUGE part Smile

FannyFifer · 07/07/2018 11:35

None, just the first positive one.

Nothisispatrick · 07/07/2018 11:43

None, just one very strong positive test

captainshortie · 07/07/2018 11:58

Oh blimey!! Are these strong enough to leave it would you say? Im going to chemist for razors anyway and will be so hard to not get a pack

@MrsB899 Im sure! You shouldve asked for sponsorship!!

@PeachesQueen So pleased your happy now :)

@Nothisispatrick & @FannyFifer Wish i had your will power!

I do think this is a new "thing"

BertrandRussell · 07/07/2018 12:01

I do think this is a new "thing"-I can't remember anyone doing more than one-or possibly two- in my day. The pharamcuttical companies must be delighted!

captainshortie · 07/07/2018 12:05

@BertrandRussell Im sure! My mam and grandma/aunties etc only did one so deffo a new thing to do

spugzbunny · 07/07/2018 12:05

I did a lot! Maybe 8? I just wanted to see the line was getting darker! I stopped about a week after my period was due!

PotteringAlong · 07/07/2018 12:07

No extras on any pregnancies. It never crossed my mind that I needed to. I had a positive, I knew I was pregnant.

FannyFifer · 07/07/2018 12:07

They are def strong enough positives to stop doing more tests.
Congratulations.

Notquiteagandt · 07/07/2018 12:08

I had a cheapo strip dip in a pack of 3. So used all 3 too check it was getting darker.

Then treated myself to a clear blue date indicator one.

If I wasnt having fairly regular bloods taken though I would of taken alot more.

Notquiteagandt · 07/07/2018 12:10

@captainshortie I stopped tested before mine where anywhere near that strong and clear. Id say thats a good strong positive.

Pondering1 · 07/07/2018 12:10

Hey OP - I'm pretty as the placenta starts developing and taking over more of the work, some hormones will drop and you might start getting more faint tests!

Pondering1 · 07/07/2018 12:10

*pretty sure

Nothisispatrick · 07/07/2018 12:11

Nothing to do with willpower. I had a strong positive test, I was pregnant. Now 27 weeks.

I have noticed from reading the Conception board that it really affects people's mental health to take constant tests and early tests. Worrying over the strength of the line, is it a line or not, this test looks different to that test. I'd rather not bring all that anxiety on myself.

Pondering1 · 07/07/2018 12:12

Invest in a private 3D scan for reassurance, so lovely to see and have pictures to look at 😊

DramaAlpaca · 07/07/2018 12:12

Definitely a new thing. I have three children & have only ever done three pregnancy tests. Mind you, they were relatively expensive back then.

BertrandRussell · 07/07/2018 12:42

I d wonder if it’s a good idea to keep testing, frankly. Surely it just adds to anxiety and worry for many people. But as I said, the pharamaceutical companies must be pleased.

I can’t remember how much the tests cost in my day, but they were expensive. The only women I knew who took more than one had some reason for concern.

captainshortie · 07/07/2018 13:34

Youre all right tbh, i need to relax! Id rather not have the anxiety or pressure to keep doing it.
But i can see why people buy more than one pack with some only being £1.
Definatly reading too much into all the tests/symptoms deffo not good for me haha need to stop! Thanks ladies :)

Roomba · 07/07/2018 13:58

I just did the one test - I don't think super cheap tests were as widely available then (or I wasn't aware of them) so I wasn't about to pay ££ for a wee when I already knew I was pregnant! Surely checking constantly just encourages anxiety?

captainshortie · 07/07/2018 14:37

@Roomba Youre exactly right, wanting go check more is making me doubt myself more. Plus googling everything!! Im making myself my own worst enemy rather than relaxing and enjoying it all xx

Just to warn you the tests will start to get lighter now you're reaching the end of the first trimester! I did a test around 10 weeks and it was barely positive!

captainshortie · 07/07/2018 22:22

@unicorncow Really? Why do they get lighter? Never knew that! :P
