Sorry ladies, I need your reassurance please!
So i came home from work and my DP said "Ive been reading the box and it says it can give false positives with people who have ovary cysts, isnt that what you have?"

Ee well I looked at him and the THREE tests on the side with all the positive lines and said youve got to be kidding me.
I said yes if I was taking tablets for my PCOS. Or taking tablets for fertility. Or if id tested too early and then it came up negative a few days later and miscarried, but ive not had any bleeding or anything.

BUT DP i tested last friday morning and then again on monday night, then again on tuesday morning! All BFP's!! (Pic attached)
He said he wont beleive it until the midwife tells us, but I said 9 times out of 10 they dont retest you because at home tests are so sensitive.
Plus ive got more than enough symptons, im nauseous, gone off tea, gone off certain foods, can only stomach a couple of mouth foods of anything before I feel Ill, cant lie on my front, insane backache, only want to eat curry.

Im not going crazy right?

Doubts again!! Is it really happening?

There are 2 lines there

captainshortie · 05/07/2018 18:17

I know! But I don't know how to convince him that its defiantly happening and not a false positive??

DaisyMay25 · 05/07/2018 18:18

@captainshortie perhaps a digital will convince him?

Verbena87 · 05/07/2018 18:19

You’re pregnant. You could ask GP to do a blood test but with those tests they’re probably unlikely to think it necessary.

captainshortie · 05/07/2018 18:24

@DaisyMay25 Possibly, I don't think he'll be convinced until the scan or "the doctor tells him"
He can't quite believe it's one of the only things that doctors believe a little stick you've pee'd on over anything else

OP posts:
captainshortie · 05/07/2018 18:27

@Verbena87 Thats exactly what I told him! I understand where he's coming from, I'm totally shocked myself. BUT I've done ALOT of pregnancy tests over the years and they've always been very VERY negative, none have ever looked like these 3, he's lucky I did the other 2 because I wasn't going to but the girl at work got them for me haha :P

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 05/07/2018 18:35

You are as pregnant as the most pregnant woman in all of Pregnantville.

He will come round and realise that it's really happening either when you have your first scan or a midwife tells him he's being a muppet!

Congratulations!

captainshortie · 05/07/2018 18:41

@DontDribbleOnTheCarpet Thank you _

He's just phoned me there and said "We should get a digital test so it actually says how many weeks you are"
And I'm just like I can't win, It'll not be accurate anyway as it only goes up to 3. And i'm right back to doubting myself again! OMG MEN!!!

OP posts:
DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 05/07/2018 18:44

Honestly, I think it might be worth getting a digital test to make him shut up about it! Then you'll just have a couple of days of "OMG, we're having an actual baby!" to get through.
I've had 10 pregnancies and my husband was a little bit like this for at least half of them. You have my sympathy!

captainshortie · 05/07/2018 18:48

@DontDribbleOnTheCarpet I think you right, deffo not coming out of my pocket though! ;)
I did the first one(the bigger one) and wasn't going to do another one because I'd read online that its SOOOO rare to get a false positive etc that theres no point wasting money.
I did the other 2 because someone at work said "but you might not be" So cried on the way home and bought another pack. So scared i'd made it all up and I wasn't pregnant.
But BFP came up again.
And now? Getting it off my own DP, I mean I'm almost heartbroken and freaking out it'll come up BFN :(

My OH was like this, didn't trust the cheapie tests so we drove to Asda at midnight to buy clear blue. 2 clear blues & 1 digital later all positive & he STILL didn't believe it! Honestly got on my nerves in the end I just wanted to celebrate 😂 Men don't really know much about pregnancy tests, or how rare a false positive is. You're pregnant my love! & in 8,9,10 weeks time when he sees that little bubs on a screen he'll believe it too! Congratulations Grin

Angelmiracle · 06/07/2018 22:22

Many congratulations you are pregnant. I have PCOS and have never had a false positive and I have taken a heck of a lot hpts since DS who is now 5 - they are always stark white 😭

WellObviously · 06/07/2018 22:23

You need to wipe whatever surface that is.

captainshortie · 07/07/2018 07:00

@beautifulblue oh lord I cant wait for my scan!! Midwife on monday so hopefully can get things moving :) Thank you xx

@Angelmiracle omg tell me about it!! Always stark white, Thank you! I told him if i was going to get a false positive id of had one years ago!

@WellObviously bar the hair at the bottom which is off my brush(out of shot) the surface is clean, it needs a really good paint. Not that thats relevant but w.e

That's your first thought about a much-wanted and possibly long awaited pregnancy? Really?

Pudding01 · 07/07/2018 13:33

I know @DontDribbleOnTheCarpet, my thoughts exactly! Thought this was mumsnet, not bitches'r'us 💁🏼‍♀️

Congratulations @captainshortie, great lines! Thanks x

My DP did the same, though not to the extreme yours has Grin

No matter how many times I told him that a faint positive is still a positive, he was convinced the line had to be as dark as the other line.

I ended up questioning it myself!

So I posted the pics here and showed him the replies from everyone who assured me they were good positives.

That seemed to satisfy him.

Congratulations OP!!

Pepper123123 · 08/07/2018 03:08

Your partner does know how rare a false positive is right? Never mind three!

captainshortie · 08/07/2018 08:25

@Pepper123123 I told him that, he seems to be on the bandwagon a bit now, got our 1st midwife app tomorrow so focusing on that :)
