Is this line getting darker? Very worried

Hi everyone.

As some of you know, my first pregnancy sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in April.

On Tuesday I was delighted to discover I was pregnant again. I am over the moon but also terrified of another loss. I keep taking tests to make sure they're still positive and getting darker!

Well, I took a FRER on Friday at 12DPO and got the first picture, and then took another this morning at 14DPO and got the second picture.

Is it just me, or is that line not getting darker? Or is it? think I have line eyes and can't tell. Everything a worry right now! Grin

The dye in tests can vary, as does the concentration of your urine so lines won’t seem always to get progressively darker

CobaltRose · 01/07/2018 05:57

Both tests were taken with FMU. I guess I'm just worried cuz lines not getting darker was the first sign that my last pregnancy was failing Sad

Hi OP, sorry about your loss and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Your line is getting darker, I've been where you are and those lines look about the same as mine, mine were getting marginally darker but it's hard to see loads of difference when you've got a good strong line to begin with. I've done a comparison photo here for you because his is how I used to compare line and you can see that your second test is darker.

The best advice I can give you is now to switch off and book an early scan for 7 weeks, stop testing, they're great lines. Best of luck to you.

Sorry the bottom pic in my pic is your most recent test.

Definite progression.

@CobaltRose it's definitely getting darker. Like you, I lost my first pregnancy (MMC at 12 weeks) and when I fell pregnant again, I kept doing tests to check line progression. I found that my line progression was particularly slow on the internet cheapies. Anyway, I'm now 37 weeks tomorrow! I will admit, the first few weeks are hard, and its difficult to stop worrying, but you just have to take things day by day and try and remain hopeful. Congratulations, and best of luck with your pregnancy!

Thank you so much everyone, you've really reassured me. I've booked a scan for eight weeks, but that's still four weeks away! Grin Just gotta survive the next month without driving myself mad with worry Grin

Hey I'm in the same boat found out yesterday I'm preg and lines getting fainter was my first sign at 5 / 6 weeks about a month and half ago. Had a faint positive yest so I'm going to test every other day maybe . All we can do is wait! Fingers crossed. I might book a reassurance test also. At some point I have to stop though and just wait though eh xoxoxox

Stop testing. Get a mindfulness app and try and wind your mind down. I know it’s hard, I’ve been there.
Best of luck. X

Ah it's so hard when you've been through a MC to enjoy subsequent pregnancies but as previous posters have said you need to stop testing now - there are too many variables to reply on the line getting darker (sensitivity of the test - even same brand will vary batch to batch, conc of urine etc). I had MMC in my first pregnancy and it was so difficult in subsequent pregnancies but getting to that first milestone of reassurance scan at 8 weeks will help hugely x

BadBadBeans · 01/07/2018 08:13

Congratulations @CobaltRose - we miscarried around the same time - hope this is my cycle too!!! It looks like line progression to me. I think it's hard to tell with FRERs because they show up so strong so early. Personally if I get pregnant again I will be using supermarket own brand pink dye tests every 3-4 days. Enough of a gap to hopefully see a difference and so actually be reassuring! Best of luck to you but it looks good to me xxxx

I normally can't see many if the very front lines and lines differences in these threads, however even I can see that you gave very strong lines there and the latest one is marginally darker (as it should be). It will only get so dark.

Good luck with your pregnancy.

I drove myself mad with first reserve tests barely getting darker.

That pregnancy resulted in my 4 year old. If I were you I would stop doing the tests, mine never really got darker than your 14 dpo test.
Best of luck.

BillywilliamV · 01/07/2018 08:25

This is not really what these tests are validated to do, stop testing..! Congratulations you are pregnant!
I lost my first at 8 weeks, pregnant again 3 months later. Sometimes the body just needs to do some fine tuning, its horrible but its natural.

OurMiracle1106 · 01/07/2018 10:42

As harsh as I’m going to sound. Please stop torturing yourself. You can’t change what’s going to happen and you’re only causing yourself distress.

I suffered 2 MMC before my son. With my second I had an early scan at 6 wks 6 days. We saw the heartbeat strong but the heartbeat stopped 2 weeks later. As hard as it is please just look after yourself- this is the very best thing you can do for your baby. Baby needs healthy mummy.

Good luck

CobaltRose · 01/07/2018 13:05

@OurMiracle1106, you're not being harsh, you're totally right! If I'm going to miscarry it'll happen regardless of what I do. I think I'll just step away from the tests now and take each day as it comes. Just hope this is a sticky bean! ❤
