How long for AF after miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks - started bleeding on 18th May. Since then I tried OPKs but just got loads of annoying bloody flashing smileys so gave up as was getting too pricey. Day 43 now and still nothing - how long after MC did you get AF? Just want to move on to the next cycle now

I'm not to sure, we conceived before AF after our miscarriage at 7 weeks.

Did you get a negative pregnancy test before testing with the opks?

Thanks sending hugs to you x

My cycle was 39 days after ERPC. It took 4 weeks to get a negative pregnancy test and my period arrived a week later.

It's normal for it to take up to 6 weeks for AF to come back after MC, and can be longer.

My period arrived exactly four weeks after my miscarriage. I only had two periods before falling pregnant again ❤

Can't advise on your OP, but Poundland obv sticks work great for me without the expense. I'm relying on them being accurate tho given that I'm not pregnant yet..

@theworstwife I'm so sorry you're going through this. My period took 51 days from EPRC before returning

Thanks for all your messages, I had a negative test about 7 or so days after the bleeding started. Had used those clear blue ones with the weeks and it didn’t go up so I think it may have been more of a chemical. I had a couple of early losses before I had my DS and everything snapped back to normal straight away - dead old now though I guess!

It's crap isn't it. Really sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks (baby measuring 6) in april. Bled for 2.5 weeks. Then had 9 day gap, then a weird period which started 26 days after the miscarriage began. After that I waited 42 days for AF - I'm normally 28 days. It's a right bugger. I would suggest getting a load of cheap opks from Amazon and testing once a day next cycle. That's what I'm doing now. Best of luck xxx

Are the cheapy sticks easy to interpret? I’ve never used them as felt I would miss the line etc. Clearblue ones are bankrupting me now after over a year of TTC and crappy irregular cycles though

I would give the cheapies a go. I was very frustrated with them last cycle because I thought I had missed my surge, but that was because I hadn't realised my cycle was going to be so ridiculously long and so I gave up using them too soon!

I've been doing them since CD12 this cycle and just got a positive ten minutes ago! It was really obvious. I'm attaching a pic of my tests from today and yesterday to show you.

I bought the one step brand in a pack of 30 for about £5 from Amazon. You have to pee in a cup and dip them for at least ten seconds - I usually count to 15 to be sure.

And actually since I have taken that photo the test line has got even darker. It is as dark as - if not darker than! - the control line now.

theworstwife · 30/06/2018 16:05

Thanks for that @badbadbeans - that looks pretty obvious. Will try them out - even on amazon clearblue was costing me £30 a month, the flashing smiley face was driving me batty this month too. Good luck x

Definitely worth a shot I think. Too costly any other way when your cycle isn't as you expect so you have to test for weeks on end! Optimum time to test is supposed to be around 2.30pm. Don't drink anything for a couple of hours beforehand. Out of curiosity I tried again early evening tonight when I'd had quite a bit to drink in the previous hour and it wasn't such a dark line. Still much darker than anything I got last cycle mind you!
