When to come off contraception

Hello :)
I am looking at ttc/being pregnant from September. When would be a good time to come off my pill? I’ve been on Rigevidon for 12 years. Thanks :)

There's literally no guarantees, you could get pregnant straight away or it could take a while. If I were you I'd probably come off now and use condoms for a couple of months.

It’s taken nearly a year for my periods to get back into a normal cycle after 5 years on microgynon so would definitely advise coming off sooner rather than later and using condoms until you’re ready. I think I’m unusual to have taken that long but I’d err on the side of caution if you’d rather not wait Smile

I am on my honeymoon during the last week of August and also due on my period based on my cycle 🙈. I’ve tried to work out dates to delay this but it also coincides with my wedding and I am in two minds at what to do! Smile

In which case I’d be tempted to run two packs together over the wedding and honeymoon (can you do that with your brand?) and then just ditch contraception from September. As much as ‘sooner rather than later’ worked for me, the risk of period buggering up your wedding or honeymoon would be a priority for me!

Plus even if it does take a few months for your cycle to settle one extra month doesn’t seem that long to sacrifice in exchange for no period worries over that time Smile

Yeah two packs in a row to enjoy your wedding and honeymoon!

The sooner the better in my opinion, get it all out of your system sooner and just use other contraceptives for a couple of months.

Good luck! :)

Just thought I’d give you an update after all the (helpful) advice, thank you ladies. We’ve decided to come off now, so my last pill will be on Wednesday. Smile
