Natural cycles

I've just downloaded the app and subscribed for a year. Just waiting for my thermometer to arrive in the post.

Has anybody used Natural Cycles before?

My thermometer arrived in the post today, looking forward to getting started! Hoping it lasts longer than the one I bought off Amazon that didn’t even make it through a whole cycle!

FlapJackered · 19/06/2018 11:12

I use it and I think it is great! I use it with opks and get a bit addicted to tracking the temps on the graph.
Just make sure you calibrate the thermometer when you get it as I got a cheap one off amazon first time and then realised it wasn't working accurately, so I then bought the natural cycles one and checked it, and that one is fine.

pinacollama · 19/06/2018 12:51

Oh that's interesting, I didn't know you should do that (probably should have read the instructions more thoroughly!). Thanks for letting me know, will do that later.

ItsAFunnyWorld · 20/06/2018 21:55

Thanks ladies, fingers crossed this helps bring that BFP!!

@pinacollama how long did it take for your thermometer to arrive. When I ordered mine it said up to 6 days, I'm impatient and want it now!

I've been using it for just over a year and I absolutely love it. I tend to wake up a few times in the night so it took a while to work out when to test. (For me it's when I wake up at about 4, rather than with my alarm.) Glad I was doing it before ttc. Only on c2 now, so it's had time to work out what's happening in my body. I'd highly recommend reading the blogs on their website -that definitely helped.

pinacollama · 21/06/2018 11:19

@ItsAFunnyWorld I ordered mine last Friday (15th) and it arrived on Monday, so pretty speedy.

I've calibrated it and it seems to be working well, fingers crossed!

I'll take a look at the blogs @ChaosMoon, thanks for the tip!

ItsAFunnyWorld · 15/08/2018 19:53

@ChaosMoon I'm two months into using mine and love it! It took a while to remember to take my temp before jumping out of bed but it's definitely something I'm hoping to stick with.

@ItsAFunnyWorld I'm so glad you're getting on with it. I still have days when I forget, but I do love it. I got my bfp this month and now it's tracking my pregnancy too.

MrsBryonyB · 26/08/2018 09:39

I’ve been using Natural Cycles to prevent pregnancy for 8 months and I love it!! I was on various forms of contraception for over 8 years such as every type of pill, implant, coil etc and none worked for me! all had nasty side effects and I never had a ‘regular’ cycle. It took 2.5 months for me to ovulate after coming off the pill but now I ovulate every month and I’ve learnt sooooo much about my body! I still don’t have a ‘regular’ as it varies from cycle day 16-25 for me to ovulate, and cycle length varies but i can see what’s going on with my body from my chart and I still get a good amount of green days and I just feel SO much better in myself. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made and I’ll happily use Natural Cycles for the rest of my life, switching to plan when I want to have a baby then going back to prevent. Love it! Honestly you wouldn’t regret trying it!

OP I've hope you have seen this - www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-45328965

Fertility awareness methods are fine if getting pregnant isn't a problem.

MrsBryonyB · 29/08/2018 22:29

Or if you know how to use it properly, if you want to be extra cautious don’t trust pre ovulation days, don’t use withdrawal method. If you use it probably you’ll be fine. All the news is based on the negative but what about the hundreds of thousands do women who have used it successfully. It has a 93% effectiveness rating, same as typical use of the pill. It has over 300,000 users so around 21k unplanned pregnancies would be in line with typical use of the pill! And there have been nooooo where near that many reported unplanned pregnancies. It’s a woman’s own choice to chose what she does with her own body! Without everyone encouraging her to pump herself full of hormones! Most people are mature enough to weigh up the options and decide what is best for them. No method is 100% effective!! Xx

Wicket2016 · 30/08/2018 01:16

I subscribed round this time last year, got my Bfp in early November. It took me the first month to get used to the app and remember to take my temp etc. But it worked brilliantly for me. I'm now up at 1.15am feeding my 5 week old Dd. Hope it works out for you 😊

rdh85 · 02/09/2018 22:30

I’ve been using natural cycles for over a year with no mishaps and we’ve just changed to planning a pregnancy. I highly recommend it! It’s empowering knowing more about your body!

I used Kindara for a while but have now switched to Fertility Friend after seeing the charts it produces on here. Lots of ways of analysing your data, it's really great! I think the main thing to keep in mind with these apps is that it's not them that are the contraceptive method really, it's all fertility awareness. So would definitely recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility or something similar to really understand how it works. Withdrawl isn't recommended by anyone as an effective method of prevention I don't think.
