Implantation bleeding

Does anyone know much about implantation bleeding?
We've just started TTC and AF is due in about 8 days but I've had discharge that looks a little like the end of AF. DD1 is 18 months and although AF came back within about 6 months, I stopped BF a month ago so my cycle is all messed up again. Last month's AF was 5 days late so it's not that unlikely I'd be all over the place this month! But it seems a weird way for AF to start as it's more of a brownish colour. I may be clutching at straws- does it sound like implantation maybe?

It could be, and if it is you would be able to get a positive test very soon.
Or it might be because your cycle is messed up.
There’s only one way to find out, get testing!

I think on the whole implantation bleeding isn't that common but it's spoken about more on the TTC boards just due to the nature and concentration of ladies TTC, do you know when you O'd? Saying that with my current pregnancy I had a funny bleed, not typical implantation I had dark blood pass for the whole day enough to need a tampon for two days assumed AF was on the way, it then eased off and BFP! Agree with above though if it is then you can test in the next couple of days, fingers crossed 🤞
