If she had unprotected sex last night then she should go to a pharmacy and get the morning after pill.

Veryconcernedmum · 17/06/2018 11:33

She won't think she wants a baby but I'm very confused about the rest of it

Surely she should know how to handle this herself? Does she not know about contraception?Hmm I'm 19 and would never have sex unprotected w/out already taking a BC pill.

Veryconcernedmum · 17/06/2018 11:38

Is there anyone out there that can give me some advice on these tests and the bleed please

She's very hard work and very naive

No one here can really tell you. She can take a test in two weeks or so to see if she got pregnant from last night's sex. If she won't use contraception or doesn't understand it then she's going to end up pregnant or with an STD (or both) sooner or later, though.

What test came up positive?

Veryconcernedmum · 17/06/2018 12:14

The rest they did Friday came up positive with in mins other two negative

I think she needs to speak to her GP. It’s pretty unlikely that the positive test was a false positive whereas the negative tests could be (especially if done straight after when urine might be less concentrated etc). A GP can talk through her options and the earlier she goes the more she’ll have.

I would definitely go back over contraception with her (and probably insist she gets herself checked for STI’s).

Thanks for the advice

She sounds quite vulnerable, can she do a test today and show you? If negative then access some emergency contraception today, sooner the better, the last bleed could just be a funny period, a pregnancy related bleed or caused by an existing STI. If her test is beg and she takes emergency contraception she can be quick started on contraception in the interim until a pregnancy can be ruled out from last night (sensible if she's likely to continue having unprotected sex in the next few weeks) please encourage her to consider long term contraception and an STI check too
