Confused by opk

I'm using opks as I don't have a regular cycle, and discovered when using them to conceive ds1 and ds2 that I often ovulate late in my cycle.

This month I've had lines getting darker over a few days, a strong line but not as dark as the control yesterday, along with ovulation pains, today only a very faint line.

I was under the impression that if there wasn't a line as dark as the control then it wasn't positive. Have I ovulated this month or not?

Sounds like you may have? They say it should be as dark as the test line but maybe that's as dark as that one gets? X

Hi my lines got darker but never as dark as the control. Also a CB solid smiley face also indicated I had a LH surge. I had Day 21 (reality it was day 25) bloods done a week later which confirmed that I had "an ovulatory cycle" per my gp! So go with your gut!

Hard to say - if they were getting darker perhaps you have a short surge and missed the peak?
You could start temping as well to try and figure it out.

For what it’s worth mine never got as dark as the control and I got pregnant.
Good luck!

I use natural cycles app and they count almost as dark as the control as a positive opk. If you had cramps too then listen to your body x
