Tell me about ovulation tests

So I've decided to use some cheap Internet ones to gauge my cycle and I'm currently on CD 16 of a 24-27 day cycle.
I've been testing since CD 7 and haven't really seen much. Yesterday I got line but it wasn't as strong as the control. Same again today.
Was having cramps yesterday and the day before and bit of ewcm yesterday. Do you think this could be my +ve ov test? Or will it get darker than the control?
My app guesses ov as CD 17 so it's not far out.

We are dtd every 2-3 days so I'm not worried about missing it at all, more to get an idea of my lp and cycle length etc. Means I won't start testing too early before af is due (as last month I got my hopes up with a late af and once I know my lp I can guess af from the ewcm)

Ok so you need to use them twice a day ideally early afternoon and evening is best (I sometimes did three a day when approaching ov) generally you should ov between 10-14 days before your period. This number of days never changes. So if you ov early, you'll have a shorter cycle and if you ov later you'll have a longer cycle.

You can also monitor cm. stretchy egg-white CM is generally a sign ovulation is imminent then once cm dries up, it usually a sign ov has happened.

Some people have really obvious ov pain and sometimes spotting but just start learning what your body does.

I have been tracking my ovulation using amazon strips I started testing early in the month to try and find my ovulation.See the attached image. I had positive results on days 14 and 15 and then the levels of Lh seemed to reduce so I'm assuming I ovulated somewhere within the 2 positive days. I did this and kept the strips because I too was having trouble pin pointing my ovulation so try testing from day 7 as some people ovulate early on and keep doing it twice a day h til you get a positive. It will give you a good indication of when to start testing the following months hope that helps
