Extremely light period

Hi there- I'm TTC (this was the 6th cycle). I really thought this time could have been our time (I thought i was getting various symptoms) but alas, I came on my period yesterday. My periods are regular (28 day cycle) but extremely light. They last 2/3 days but I barely need a tampon (maybe just on one day). But this time I have not even had that- it's almost more like spotting. I know it's not implantation bleeding either because I took my BBT today and it's too low to be pregnant. Have been to the doctors about my light periods- they ran tests and said no issues (put it down to the fact that I was on the pill for 10+ years- I came off it last sept). I'm 32 and I'm so worried. I'm also just distraught at yet another month of not conceiving- it's heartbreaking 😔 Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any help/advice would be warmly received. Thank you

Have you had thyroid checked??

gossipgirl28 · 12/06/2018 09:47

Hi!

The last few periods I have had sound exactly like yours. Mine have been 2/3 days only and I only needed 1 tampon last time. Im 28 and I stopped the pill in Dec 2017 after being on birth control for 10 years.

I recently had a blood test on cd15 which showed my progesterone was only 2. 30+ shows ovulation. I don't think I'm ovulating according to temps. Xx

@Presh12345 - thanks, yes I did and apparently it was fine. I have booked to see my GP again though (earliest apt is next Monday). Something doesn't feel right though.

@gossipgirl28 - yes very sounds familiar. I had various blood tests, all came back fine but my prolactin was at the higher level (although still in range). Have you looked into your light periods any further at all? I feel like anytime I have been to the dr that haven't been particularly helpful tbh

xx

Gossip girl - cd 15 is the right day for that test if you have a 22 day cycle. Normally, the test only means something when taken 7 days before af due.

gossipgirl28 · 12/06/2018 12:27

@physicskate thanks I usually have a 25 day cycle (although AF is yet to appear today)
My results from my blood test on cd15 were as follows (I thought Lh was low for mid cycle)
: fsh 4.2
Lh 1.8
Tsh 1.003mul
T4 8.8
Progesterone 2nmol.

I've just bought an ovusense to help track if I ovulate more accurately.

I've also just bought some soy inflavnes to try next cycle and currently taken bvitamin.

Some say that your periods get lighter with age and mine definitely are compared to 10years ago x

Have you actually done a pregnancy test though? I would do that just to rule it out.

gossipgirl28 · 12/06/2018 12:36

@heateallthebuns

Yeah I did an IC yesterday and the day before which were both negative. Cramping today too so I think AF is on the way x

Hi I had a two day period last month and lighter than usual. After a few days I was spotting which then went away. I have now come on my period ten days early and spotted a few days before again. I usually spot for a couple of days before income on my period. However this period seems lighter to. I took a pregnancy test the first time I had the two day bleed to rule anything out. It cane negative however I’m unsure why this is happening. I have cervical erosion which can lead to spotting however the light period and if arriving so early doesn’t make any sense.

My doctor is going to give me a over the phone consultation next week however I’m panicking and can’t wait thag long. Anyone experienced anything similar. This has never happens to me before. My periods are always on time and last five days usually.
