Pregnant and partner doesn’t want it

We weren’t silly and didn’t take risks but seems the contraceptive has failed. I’m now 7 weeks pregnant and partner not sure he wants it at all. I’m not sure either.

I like the freedom my life has at the moment. My other kids have all just reached the age where we (as in partner and I) can do things together again spur of the moment. I also don’t know if we can afford it. One of us would have to give up work unless the poor kid goes to child care. So difficult a decision Confused

unless the poor kid goes to child care

Wtf Hmm

Sorry didn’t mean anything by that. Everyone goes with the options they can.

Nothing wrong with putting your child in childcare whilst you work.

Shortroping · 11/06/2018 14:30

Of course there isn’t. I just said I didn’t mean anything by that.

But by all means why don’t you both focus on a stupid turn of phrase.

If you both dont want the child then you need to do something about it.
I think the tone of your post is very negative towards the situation. So maybe chat together a bit more and see how you feel again. It wasn't your fault and if life is ok and happy for you at the moment maybe don't have the baby.

ClaryFray · 11/06/2018 15:06

Your blatant disrespect of parents whose children are in childcare because they have a strong work ethic aside. If you don't want it, don't have it. Only you and your partner can make this choice.

onceisawabee · 11/06/2018 15:11

Some parents don't want to put their children in child care 🤷‍♀️

I think you need to have a in-depth discuss with DP and cover all your options for having the baby and for not

Shortroping · 11/06/2018 15:38

Since thats clearly the overriding concern here: I have no problem with kids being in childcare. My other kids have all been in childcare. So can we please put that to bed already????? I did not mean anything by it and was thinking more about the poor kid in general not specific to childcare although it came out that way due to poor turn of phrase. From now on if you can’t ignore that poor turn of phrase just don’t bother commenting ok?

Do what’s best for you.

Would you regret the decision? That’s the biggest thing.

You will never regret the baby you have but you may regret the baby you didn’t have .

Are you feeling guilty about having a Termination? If so, don’t. You haven’t been reckless or careless and babies and children are hard enough work when you both really want one. Obviously you will love it, if you go ahead. But really if you are looking for permission/validation to end the pregnancy you don’t need it. Do what’s right for you and your family as it is now. Good luck, know it’s not easy
