Hi is it best to have fertility tests before trying to conceive?

I'm 39 this would be my 3rd child (but 12 yrs ago)

My periods are regular but very light lasting at most 2 days. I don't even know if I'm fertile???
Would you check beforehand??

It might be worth checking what your AMH level is, as this will be an indicator of egg reserve. Your GP might also test your LH and FSH levels - if these are elevated you may be closer to menopause etc.

They're simple blood tests so might be worth doing. Good luck!

I'm same age OP and have started the process after a MMC last year. My periods last only 2-3 days but this is because I have a thyroid disorder. Bang on time though every month. Have you had thyoid checked?

Not had thyroid checked. I am tired all the time tho so have been taking iron tablets which have helped.

GPs won't test anything ttc related unless you have a known issue, unless you've already been ttc for 6 months. It's longer if you're under 35.

Just go for it. You're planning on ttc so the tests might tell you to not wait around, which you aren't doing anyway...
