TTC with short luteal phase. Anyone else?

Currently TTC#3. Cycles have been wonky since stopping BF my youngest 4 months ago. I’ve only had 2 periods in that time and the last one lasted over 2 weeks!

I’m not looking for advice per se because I think it’s just a case of waiting for things to settle down again, but is anyone else out there TTC and dealing with a short LP? Want to hang out?

I’m currently on CD39 and I think about 5DPO. Last LP was only 6 days and the one before that 3, but I’m not feeling “periody” yet so fx this one will be a bit longer again.

Thanks! There definitely is hope! Smile

LoveInTokyo · 08/06/2018 08:27

Congratulations!

Lithops · 08/06/2018 09:18

Congratulations, MrsY, how exciting!
Susannach, no there's no obvious reason for my weird cycle. I'm really hoping it's just a blip. Interestingly, I have just had a very light AF (for me). Normally it last at least 5 days, with 2 or 3 very heavy days at the start. This time, it only lasted a couple of days, with neither what I would call heavy. I'm wondering if this is because of the short luteal phase, and if it is, then it definitely isn't what's been happening normally because my other periods have all been just as heavy as normal these last few months. Hoping for a more 'normal' cycle this time around!

Wishescometrue · 08/06/2018 10:03

So I’m sure my lp is short well im not sure ... I always spot a week before I actually come on. So how does that come into action? Would I count from spotting or full bleed ?

Susannach · 08/06/2018 11:30

Wishes I believe you count from the first day of full flow, whatever that means for you. Spotting can be totally normal, but sometimes it can also be a sign of lower progesterone levels, which is also what causes a short LP. Have you ever talked to a doc about it?

Wow congratulations @MrsY87 that's brilliant! Smile

Wishescometrue · 08/06/2018 12:10

I have , they said I had cervical eversion but the doc wasn’t sure as she said my spotting was regular and spotting with cervical eversion is more random. She sent me for bloods on cd2-5 . They just don’t listen or even care . I think I’m going to pay out private . My fsh came back at 10 which I don’t think is good either and she said that was normal :(

Susannach · 08/06/2018 12:31

Sorry about that Wishes Could well be worth going private if you can to get some proper answers.

Morning everyone, happy weekend!
Just wondering if anyone knows whether antihistamines affect conception? I read somewhere I while ago that they might make it harder to conceive so I've been avoiding them, but this last week hay fever has been so bad I've had to take them every day, I've seen that the pollen count is high for the next few weeks too

RanchoRelaxo · 09/06/2018 09:27

@Wishescometrue sorry to hear, I have never experienced spotting before my period, but I can imagine how frustrating it is to see!

Wishescometrue · 09/06/2018 09:40

Ive seen it can affect your cm ... so get some pre seed or something to help. Or the primrose is it . Or I’ve even read cough medicine increases cm

Susannach · 09/06/2018 09:57

Sorry Rancho no idea! But I imagine they’re better for TTC than itchy eyes and streaming nose! I’d take them and make sure you drink lots of water, grapefruit juice etc for the CM. Sorry about the hay fever!

Well, about 8dpo and still no AF Grin but I feel like it could turn up any minute. Still an improvement on last month though!

How is everyone doing?

Ah, that's good news, Susannach, let's hope AF holds out on you a bit longer (or for nine months or so....?). No change here. I'm CD5 and still contemplating how very short AF was this month for me. I'd normally still have a reasonably heavy flow by now. Hoping that this month will be a bit more normal.

RanchoRelaxo · 10/06/2018 09:52

Wishes cough medicine?! I would never have thought of that haha
Good luck holding off af susannach I was wondering with having a short lp at what point dpo would we get a BFP, would it show up before we have missed a period?
I am cd10 today, I am unsure of when my fertile window will be, I am considering not doing opks this month either, I have really felt the pressure of tracking, might just see what happens if we don't try too hard haha

OrcinusOrca · 10/06/2018 10:15

I think my LP can border on short at 10 ish days, but sometimes I get so much spotting I'm not convinced CD1 should be the start of AF, it's so variable how much spotting I get.

Last cycle I O'd on CD22 after two cycles of over 42 days. This month I O'd on CD18, so clearly my O date can shift and hopefully yours can too. I've started on B6 50mg, one a day then up to two a day from O. Hoping it will phase out the spotting and lengthen my LP a bit. 5DPO today and my hormonal acne seems improved...it flared up day before O and I've had no more new ones for a few days so hoping the B6 is helping things settle down!

Susannach · 10/06/2018 15:29

Good luck Orcinus! I think 10 days is actually considered normal (albeit the shorter end) so hopefully you won’t have too many troubles. Glad the B6 is working so well for you.

Rancho I’m pretty sure we’d only get a BFP at the “normal” dpo, maybe slightly earlier assuming early implantation.

I was ttc for 9 months while still breastfeeding. My luteal phase was usually 8 days, but was as low as 4 days during this time. Just got a BFP last week (yay!) and what was different this month was I had my thyroid levels checked and my thyroid medication increased. Also started taking fish oil tablets, but I think it was having my thyroid sorted out which made the biggest difference. Good luck everyone :)

RanchoRelaxo · 10/06/2018 17:30

orcinus how do you take b6? More after ovulation? Sorry for the questions but is this something you can buy from boots or somewhere? I think I will see how this cycle goes and then possibly try something like this to try and help.
As usual it's the start of my cycle and I am feeling quite optimistic that this might be my month, am sure as soon as I've ovulated that optimism will go out of the window haha

OrcinusOrca · 10/06/2018 18:12

@RanchoRelaxo I got tablets of Amazon, 50mg ones, so I do 50mg CD1-ovulation and 2x50mg from O to last day of cycle.

Lots of threads on MN about B6, some day it's no good others say it helped. It's meant to help regulate hormones and I think mine have been all over given the acne. Lots use it for spotting in LP or a short LP too. I think some find it delays O, that's why I'm only doing 50mg until I O. B6 is in your system as soon as you take it and out as soon as you stop, so I thought t was worth a go.

RanchoRelaxo · 10/06/2018 20:14

orcinus brilliant thank you Smile definitely seems worth a try then

Susannach · 12/06/2018 04:19

Morning all, how is everyone doing?

At 11DPO this morning with still no sign of AF and a few familiar symptoms, I’ve just taken an IC and... Smile

TTC with short luteal phase. Anyone else?

@Susannach I definitely see it!! How exciting! Have you got a FRER you can do?

Susannach · 12/06/2018 06:48

No FRER but it’s pretty clear in person, so I’m taking it as a pos!

MrsY87 · 12/06/2018 13:31
