Questions about CM...

Apologies if this has been done before/done to death. You'd think that as I am TTC no2 I would be au fait with these things. Clearly not as I have some questions about CM and I am hoping you lovely Mumsnet folk will be able to help.

1. EWCM - does this occur BEFORE ovulation or DURING? For the past two months I have had a huge blob of the stuff around CD13/14. My cycles are 31 days so always assumed ovulation on around CD 18. Does the CM indicate that I am OV or am about to? I have literally had one massive blog and then nothing for the rest of fertile week.

1. This is probably a really silly question, but if you are successful and manage to 'catch the egg' what happens to CM?! Will it dry up/change earlier than usual?

1. Difference between EWCM and semen? Sure I have read something about semen not stretching?

1. Before. And for me up until the day of. Then dry like the Sahara.
2. It'll be like normal until after implantation. My cm than ramps up around 5 weeks pregnant, so much so I keep thinking my period has started.
3. Cm smells acidic, bit like yoghurt, semen smalls like semen! It's hard to tell the difference really, so assume it's ewcm unless it's really out of time!

In answer to you questions, in my experience:

1. Tons of it in the 3 days leading up to Ov but it there was less of it on actual Ov date. No EWCM afterwards.
2. Mine stayed pretty creamy. It never actually dried up at all. However, as I got pregnant my second cycle off the pill, I couldn’t tell you whether that was normal or not.
3. Semen looks like EWCM but doesn’t stretch in the same way. If you stretch it between your fingers it will eventually just go tacky.

Thanks both! I can't remember what it was like with DD - I had implantation bleeding I thought was my period so clearly wasn't paying attention to CM!

Anyway, since the huge glob, I had EWCM for two days (three in total) although the third day was more 'wet'. Has today gone/gone slightly creamy. Have managed to DTD every night so fingers crossed we caught it!
