HCG Hell!

Maybe a tad dramatic but that's how I feel right now!

IVF cycle finally worked and I got to see the BFP.... yay!!! We rejoiced... until the hcg result.
First level was 91 and 3 days later it's 215. Now waiting another 3 days to find out what is happening.
Has anyone else gone through this? I would love to hear others stories.

Why every three days? I thought hcg doubles every 48 hours early on? So it makes sense to test every 48?

I'm sorry you're going through such uncertainty. Just starting my first round of ivf and bricking it...

PonyPals · 02/06/2018 11:41

Hi Kate, from what I understand they like for it to double every 48-72 hours with at least 66% rise in 48 hours. So I think my clinic just does 72 hours.

91 to 215 is absolutely fine, surely? It’s just over doubled which is what you’d expect after 3 days.

Surely this is a happy sign? Confused

How many days past transfer was the first hcg blood test? And was it a 3 or 5 day embryo?

Desmondo2016 · 02/06/2018 22:00

I appreciate it is horribly stressful but going purely on the numbers I'd say you're doing just fine. Congrats btw!

PonyPals · 02/06/2018 22:03

Thanks! It is stressful coz the numbers themselves are relatively low.

1st hcg was 10dp5dt

At 4+3 my first hcg was 19
I was told a failed or failing pregnancy
34 weeks later I had a beautiful 7lb 8oz baby boy. He’s 4 months old now and perfect x

FedUpofpooo · 02/06/2018 22:08

After another 48 hrs it was 72

Clickncollect · 02/06/2018 22:16

Honestly I’m not one for providing false hope but I’d say those numbers were pretty decent given how early they were!
My clinic doesn’t give a blood hcg test until 14dp5dt so let’s have a conservative guess that yours would have been around 400 on that day which is absolutely fine. I think it’s just that the 91 sounds low but hardly surprising at just 10dp5dt.
Really hope everything works out for you xx

Thanks everyone. You have really made me feel better.
Interesting to see what the 3rd beta will be!

@FedUpofpooo wow what a little miracle for you. Congratulations!!!

I think that sounds really good too! My clinic would have been happy with anything above 50 for a first result, and your numbers are increasing nicely. I know that the feeling of being stuck in limbo is horrible, though. Very best of luck Thanks

PrimeraVez · 03/06/2018 06:06

How many did you transfer? My HCG was slowish to rise in a previous pregnancy and it was because there were originally 2 and only 1 progressed.

Best of luck!
