Hi all

My partner and I have recently starting TTC and I’m overwhelmed with excitement and nerves! I’m pretty sure I ovulated yesterday as I had this weird twinging in my right side (we DTD the two nights preceding and very late on what I think was ovulation day) and now I’m scared I’m going to be disappointed if it doesn’t work (sounds silly but I’ve waited so long for this!) did anyone have luck the first time round this way and does anyone have any advice/tips. I feel really anxious and impatient and I’m driving myself a bit loopy with it!

Thank you :) x

Try to relax, I know it’s hard when your really exited but it may take many months for you to fall pregnant and you will drive yourself crazy!

Try to just enjoy the journey with your partner. Sounds really corny I know but it try to just relax and enjoy being together. If you start trying to monitor every twinge or pain you’ll end up having regimented sex and then getting disappointed if your not pregnant that month, it can zap the fun out of it.

I would just enjoy the next few months and see what happens. Don’t get too caught up in it.

Review it in 6 months if your not pregnant then. Maybe try ovulation testing at that point and other things.

But the now - enjoy!!!!

All the best xxx

Great advice above! Although I didn’t take it, and was super-obsessive about checking things like cycle length/cervical mucus (sorry, TMI!) etc. Never felt ovulation, so that was a bit challenging.

Ended up trying for three months, and was surprised at how disappointed I was each time, even though I knew it could take time. In the end what helped was a holiday right in the middle of my cycle- 2 weeks away, sun, sand, and sea, and lots of hotel rooms ;)

Ah three months is really good though! I feel your pain re being a bit obsessive, I’m scaling it back today and just gOing with the flow! My partner and I have said it happens when it happens, not going to schedule anything haha! Mid cycle is the best time I heard ;) x

I'm not going to lie this is my first month ttc and only been off the pill since May 19th have had a withdrawal bleed and according to my app I'm ovulating in the next 5 days though my daily opk tests have shown no signs yet. I am very over excited and want it to happen ASAP I'm aware it could take time but it's taken us 2 years to be ready to bring a baby in to our life. I wish you lots of luck and hope it happens soon for you. AF due the 19th which is also my birthday.
