Question about periods.....

My period has arrived this morning and immediately seems rather unusual in that the blood is so dark it looks black. My last few periods have been quite heavy, but have been a bright red flow of blood. So to wake up this morning to this was a bit of a surprise. Anyone know of any possibly reason(s)?

um, mine often starts off as darker (oxidised) blood and becomes fresh blood after a day or so. Is your period normal otherwise?

would go to docs if not bright red soon.

oxdised blood is browny though not black.

Thanks Dimpledthighs. I think it looks black cos it is so heavy at the mo, but is probably just v dark brown. Will give it a day or so to calm down a bit I think....

Feeling fine, aprt, of course, for the fact that my period means I am not pg!
However, quite bizarre really, today my period is really quite light! I suppose yesterdays must have just been a really heavy flow and it is tailing off already.....

no chance of it being an implantation bleed?

I think not. It was sooooo heavy that it would have had to have been a baby diploducus implanting itself in the lining of my womb!!
