Is it normal to get one line on OPK

Hi all, first month of using the internet cheap OPK (after a chemical last month I resigned it may take longer than I expected so can’t afford clear blue OPK every month!!)
So far I have only been seeing one line (the control line). I should be coming up to ovulating around 3 days time (Although aware the chemical may mess with cycle a bit). I was expecting to have a second line this week which gradually got darker as I neared ovulation. Does the fact I can only see one line mean I’m nowhere near ovulation or is it totally irrelevant and I might get a positive from nowhere when I’m meant to?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @Firsttimer16 I found when I started them last month that my surge was very quick, I even missed my positive. So went from no line one day to darker to faint to no line within about 3 days. I've seen on here that some people have 2 dark but not quite positive for a few days so it varies.

I'm sorry to hear about your chemical pregnancy, fingers crossed for this month

Sounds like my OPKs - either stark white or dark, I never saw a gradual build up like some women.

Sorry you had a chemical Flowers

Hi sorry to hear about your chemical. I'm having the same issue. Started using cheap OPKs three months ago first month was fine but second month I found just one line appeared in all tests, on mine it says that means the test is invalid, this month I have been using them since the end of my period as I figure that I must be ovulating sooner than I thought. So far still just one line. I find it odd given the first months ones worked. What time of day are you testing? Some of the reading I have done suggests not to use the first wee of the day - sorry I'm not more helpful - good luck Thanks

Try doing them twice a day, don’t use FMU. Do them daily for a full cycle.
I always thought I knew when I was ovulating- until I started using OPKs and realised how wrong I was!!!! Tried for a baby for over a year, then started to use OPKs, found out when I was actually ovulating and then we fell pregnant on the second month of using them Smile

Thank you all! I have been using fmu - oops, I’ll try doing it middle of the day instead! I’ll see what happens over the weekend when I would expect to be ovulating. Suppose I better BD just incase if I can muster up the energy!! Thanks for your advice

Oooo twice a day you say @Wildlingofthewest I will definitely try that. Yep @Firsttimer16 BD central is what my DH likes to call my fertile week 😂 we try to do every other day post period up to fertile week then every day - I say try ..... sometimes sleep wins out 😉

Firsttimer16 · 30/05/2018 12:22

@mommybear1 that’s a good effort! We have been doing that past few months but my enthusiasm is beginning to wane a little so hoping I could pin down a bit more exactly with OPK! Wink the easy solution is definitely just to crack on with BD regardless!!!

Hey OP, 👋🏻

I'm so sorry to hear about your chemical last month! Sending lots of love and hugs!!

I too was new to the whole OPK and TTC this month just gone. Brought the internet cheapies too and thought 'what the hell am I doing lol'.... So because my cycles range from 30-36 days I started using the OPK's for the first time from cycle day 8! This may be different for you depending on your cycle lengths!!! I did a test every morning before work... and then when I got home! Kept getting only one line... so thought the same as you... what the hell is happening 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ On CD19 we went out for the day for a friends birthday and I had a lot to drink... Stumbled home and took a test randomly at 11.30pm!!! BOOM.... there was this really dark line.... then the following morning it was still there but a lot lighter... so it happened very sudden for me! I have heard that people get lines leading up to and then through there OV period, but not everyone's the same.... So stay positive and keep testing!!!! Trust me it will appear out of knowwhere... We have also been DTD everyother day since CD8 and then a lot during my OV period (SMEP). I am now 3DPO so it's a waiting game if it's going to be our month or not!! I'll attach my OPK's to show you....

Sending lots of bubba dust and luck your way! ☘️✨🙌🏻

Keep me updated on how your getting on xx

@sunshineandrainbows6 oh wow that’s really interesting!! I have bought so many I’ll start taking some to work with me too and doing one mid afternoon - might as well!!

Ohh keep me updated with your progress - I should Ovulate Saturday so will be about a week behind you. I’m on holiday when AF is due so I’ll be testing lots and lots in the week leading up so I know if I can drown my sorrows or not!!!
