Missing period on pill?!

Hi all, I feel like a 30 year old prize idiot asking this; me and my partner aren’t intending to start ttc for a few months so I’m still on the pill and I always always get af 3 days after the last pill of the packet (when having the 7 day break) but it’s been 6 days and nothing? I’m aware the bleed on the pill is a withdrawal bleed and isn’t a ‘proper’ period but this feels very weird. This ever happened to anyone else?!

Further note; does this perhaps mean that the pill has failed?! Help! Have been googling like mad but can’t find any mention of this?!

Hey...

Have you been poorly at all during the month taking the pill? Or taking any medication for cold or flu? Some can reduce the strength of the pill. My friend fell pregnant this way.

If I were you I would do a test to be sure before restarting the next packet just in case.

Xx

Hey, thanks for the reply. I have been taking antihistamines for hay fever. I also had a bad stomach a couple of weeks ago (but wasn’t physically sick, sorry for tmi!). This is just so out of character for me which makes me think somehow I’m pregnant. It’s just a good few months before we wanted to try so really anxious about getting a bfp (never thought I’d say that!!)

There is still a random chance... I would definitely check. Better to be safe! They always say there is no right time to fall pregnant so hopefully a few months won’t hurt too much. Try not to panic and hopefully it will be a bfn! X let me know x

I believe that extreme sickness or diarrhoea can cause your pill to exit your system before it has been absorbed into your body.

It is possible that you could be pregnant, but I would say it is more likely that you just aren't getting your bleed this month. That happens from time to time on the pill.

Take a pregnancy test, that should tell you one way or another :)

Thanks everyone, just had a panic and my sister rushed over with a test so will do it when DP gets home tonight! It really wouldn’t be a bad thing it it was positive but we have a big holiday in July for my 30th (meant to be our last blow out couples holiday before ttc lol). Best laid plans eh! Haha. Will update later!

Negative! Although have been advised to retest again on Friday (and either have af or get checked out before starting next packet). So still very confused!

Thanks hun, I feel so confused? I used a Sainsbury’s test yesterday so going to go and get a FRER today and test again. Hate being a woman sometimes!

Did you get any further? Hope you’re ok xxx

Constance88 · 31/05/2018 22:29

Thanks petal! I was due to right back on here, set off to the shop today to buy FRER and what arrived on way?! Af! Haha. Bit of a relief to be honest. Wouldn’t have been the worst thing in the world but know when you have a plan in your head, didn’t sleep last night! Flowers

Happened so many times to me (when I was ttc), wait and wait, no period, take a test and it’s negative, within hours my period would arrive...bloody period teasing and testing us

Kr250710 · 01/06/2018 07:02

Ah phew 😅 what a relief for you Hun! Xxx

I know, you just convince yourself you must be pregnant don’t you! I’m in my last week of uni for the year (studying with the open while working) so think it must have been stress that delayed it!
