Has anyone been here? We are looking into best place to go to for IVF and these people's literature looks very good. And we are not in London, so how many overnight stays would we need per cycle?

Hi kittyb the very best hospital in London is the Lister Hospital in Chelsea. It has the best success rate, they do alot of research there. I have just done my first cycle there and was treated brilliantly. You may not need to stay overnight at all depending where you live. Visits are usually very short appart from your first. Good luck.

I met one of the consultants from Guy's & St Thomas's asstd conception unit last week, he was lovely and really enthusing over a party they had recently for all their babies..

here's a list of a few clinics in the london area, check out their stats. be aware some have policies of eg implanting 3 embryos when others will only go for 2.

I had my first and successful treatment at The Bridge Centre in London Bridge. They were fantastic as they had a satellite centre near to where I live in Surrey, so I didn't have to go there much at all - mainly just for appointments ahead of the treatment starting and the actual embryo transfer. They were great.

I know I keep posting about another bulletin board (i'm really not trying to entice anyone away from mumsnett) but it does have a huge amount of information. I found it an enormous resource when I was cycling last year. It's ivfconnections.com's UK board. You will find ladies on here who have done what you are thinking of doing and know the drill and can give you info about where to stay etc. If you search for ARGC you will come up with loads. Here. The #of overnights you need will depend on your protocol.

The ARGC has an awesome reputation and is very pioneering in it's approach especially when it comes to things like immune testing and treatment, short protocols etc. When I was looking for a clinic last year, based on stats, ARGC was #1 and UCH ACU #2, can't remember the rest. I had a successful IVF/ICSI cycle at UCH first time at the age of 37 and was going to go to ARGC if I didn't have success there. I hope you find a clinic that you are happy with. Both are at the more expernsive end. Bakedbean raises a good point about clinics with satellite centres though I don't think ARGC and UCH do that. May be worth exploring to help with logistics.
