Curious about line on test

So, I got a really really faint positive on a frer this morning and this afternoon I got curious so decided to use a cheap strip test, not really expecting anything. Anyway, I didn't see anything come up within a few mins and decided to leave it. Probably 10 or so mins later I decided to have another look while I was there and I noticed a really faint line which had colour. Obviously I know the test is invalid if nothing in the time scale but why would the line have colour? (Or is it irrelevant?) xxx

It' irrelevant. Anything that happens after the time is to be ignored. This isn't to say you aren't pregnant, just that you don't have enough HCG to be detected by that test yet.

FWIW, the only times I've had evaps (lines appearing after time) I have been pregnant, just very early on.

Definitely not irrelevant because I didn't realise my One step dips time frame was 1-5 minutes. Who's to say it didn't come up within 5 minutes? Stay positive it's the best thing for you anyway and try again in the morning :) Good luck x

I checked my IC immediately, then discarded it for about 5 hours, but fished it from the bin as I didn't believe the BFN. There was a line on it, so I tested with a FRER when I next wee'd and it was positive. I know it's very bad practice, but I'm the least patient person ever, so hey ho!

@NoWordForFluffy - I think you might have some competition with me! Lol. I know. I'm just so hoping it will still be bfp in the morning. Here's my frer test from this morning xx

Please remember FRERs are more sensitive than an internet cheapy stick. These tests were dipped in the same urine and you can see the massive difference, if you got a BFP on a FRER I’d trust that :)

@PickettBowtruckles - agree. I did both this morning and got a pretty decent line on frer but practically nothing on the other x

I know tests are invalid after the allowed time frame but I found with the cheap tests they do take longer to give a positive than it says on the box. With my fourth pregnancy I found on a cheapy at 10dpo, it came up slowly and was so faint but a frer confirmed it 2 days later. Good luck x
