Hi guys I’m new here, have two previous pregnancies resulting in ds 13 years ago and dd 12 years ago. Last year my new partner and I found ourselves expecting whilst on the pill which unfortunately resulted in mc we have now decided to Ttc so I came off of cilest 7th April after being back on it a year. I had a mild bleed presuming it’s withdrawal 9th- 14th April then nothing since! I’ve felt mildly nauseous on occasion and definitely had a few mood swings and also extra saliva and extra thirsty but keep getting negative hpt any ideas?

It sounds like classic “coming off the pill” symptoms. Your cycle can sometimes take a while to get back to normal and a lot of people find they don’t get a proper period for a few months. It’s perfectly normal. Also the symptom you are having are related to coming off the pill. Your body is adjusting to real hormones rather than artificial ones so you’ll get a lot of weird things happening that you wouldn’t have had whilst on the pill. Give it a few months and if your period hasn’t come back at all, speak to your GP

Thank you, when I’ve come off the pill previously for Whatever reason my cycle usually returns pretty much instantly that’s why I felt so unsure this time, I am a little older now though hence the nerves

I’ve been on and off contraception for the last ten years and it was only the last time I came off it to ttc that I got weird symptoms like sore boobs, nausea, fatigue etc that I hadn’t had previously. Your body and your cycles change as you get older so it’s most likely an age thing, I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s totally normal to not be normal for a while

My periods came back straight away but went all crazy soon after. That was coming off Cilest. When I had microgynon years ago they never caused me any problems coming off it. I don't know if it's just age or actual type of pill too...

Marvellouslymadmum · 18/05/2018 07:27

I did read up On the type of pill and what happens when you come off them and cilest seemed to have a pretty good track record for getting back to normal straight away but I guess I will just have to wait and see! The hardest part is do I just keep waiting for a period to arrive or pregnancy symptoms and see what comes first before testing again?

Have you used a regular test or a FRER?

BoBo90 · 18/05/2018 08:47

I came of the pill in the past and my periods returned immediately. Then I went back on it and when stopping it to ttc it took 3-4 months for my first period and then my periods were irregular and long for the next year.
There's no reason why sometimes it affects your body badly and others it doesn't. Its just life being a pain like it knows you want to ttc!!
Personally I would get some cheap pregnancy tests from Amazon so you can test every now and then to keep yourself sane while you wait for your period to arrive. And keep dtd because you never know - you might catch that first egg! Good luck 😊

I’ve tried Tesco tests and Poundland cheapies so far and I’m going to try and refrain from testing more than once a week lol
