When to test!?

Hi MNers, first cycle TTC and it will be our first baby. Thought about doing it for a while and I've been off the pill for about 18 months and taking conception (his & hers for about 6 months). I use the Clue app which has been scarily accurate thus far but (typically!) this month I am in a pickle! I'm either 13 or 8 DPO and AF is is either due to come today or 23rd.

When would you test?

My cycles are always usually 32 - 34 days but last month it was 28 days! This cycle I had EGCM from day 10 - 18 and cramps on around day 18. Do we think this means I'm on a 28 or 34 day cycle?

As an added element I am doing a weight loss programme and this week I lost weight which would NEVER happen if I was due on - since I have been doing it I always either STS or gain in the week AF is due.

I had a dream last night AF arrived so woke up this morning expecting it to have happened but nada. Woke up and needed to pee but really tried to hold it in while I talked myself into / out of / into taking a test (my mum always said you take them in the morning?). I didn't take it.

I understand your eager feelings to test, personally I’d wait until 1st June to test.
But this is based on experience of ttc and feeling disheartening when testing too soon.
Wishing you the best of luck

GlassSuppers · 17/05/2018 09:52

I'm TTC too but I'm only going to test when I know I'm late, the more I stress about AF the later it arrives so I won't be testing until I'm over a week late.
Waiting an extra week won't change the result.

Bubblegum89 · 17/05/2018 14:40

I would wait until your period is late. In my opinion, testing earlier than that just isn’t worth it.

stellarfox · 17/05/2018 14:47

I am trying to just wait until af is late to test now or you just get disappointed and waste loads of money on tests, but it is up to you!

Changedmaname · 17/05/2018 16:05

I agree - wait until you are definitely late! I always got myself in more of a tizz / more disappointed when I tested early. You just end up squinting at the test trying to will yourself to see a line. There seems to be a trend with testing earlier and earlier, and posting all the tests online for people to inspect, which I don't really understand. Each to their own or course thought, it's just not for me. Smile

@Wetwashing00 @GlassSuppers @Bubblegum89 @stellarfox @Changedmaname thanks all!

I guess I'm just confusing myself as to whether I am late already or not yet but I guess I know the right answer is to wait until next week and then I'll know for definite.

I don't want to test early which is why today was the first day I've really thought about whether I should test or not 😊

OMG so I'm actually shaking as a write this. I just took a test and it's a BFP?!?!?!!!

It's a Clear Blue Early digital one. I'm in shock. I'm on CD 30 and I used my FMU. AF could be 4 days late or 4 days early.

Can you get a false BFP?!

I'm in shock.

It's very rare to get a false BFp so highly unlikely , congratulations and happy 9 months for you!!!! Can u post a pic I like seeing them haha xx

Wowthisisreal · 19/05/2018 22:31

@leanne9312 I can indeed. Here's the first one and then I made DH go out and get 2 more (and I checked the other digital).

Freaking out tbh. Obviously happy but also I feel so RESPONSIBLE.
