Hi ladies. So, when you're actually ovulating, have you missed the boat? I have been dtd anyway so not worried but just wondering if I should dtd today as having ovulation symptoms? Xx

Doing it before ensures there will be sperms ready and waiting for the egg however if your having ovulation symptoms it's highly recommended to do it on the day as you have the highest percentage of conceiving on that day.

Great thanks. I'm defo covered for before but wondered whether you'd actually missed the boat because ovulation had started xx

Once you have ovulated you have effectively missed the boat as sperm have to go through a chemical process called capacitation which takes some time before they are able to penetrate the egg, and the egg will only live for 24 hours at the most.
You need to have sex in the two days before ovulation to maximise your chances.
I’m not sure what you mean by ovulation symptoms. I get pains around then and bloating but it is before and after ovulation so wouldn’t help me know when to have sex. The presence of EWCM is a much better indicator for me that it is a good day to have sex.

As above, your chances are greater if you're covered earlier in fertile week that later but there's no way of knowing the precise time of ovulation so best just to get as much dtd in as possible because you never know.

@Polly99 - thanks for your reply. I just meant I've been having some cramps today so guess it's ovulation happening. I got my peak yesterday. We dtd on Fri, mon and last night so hopefully have it covered. We will still dtd tonight for good measure lol but I just wondered how it worked? X

I'm pretty sure I had sex about 8 hours after I ovulated (I know because I get pain and spotting) The next morning my temp had risen and I got a BFP this month. So you're in with a chance!

@LemonBee - thanks! I'm feeling really positive this month as timings seem to have been much better. Like I said, I'll defo dtd tonight to make sure we have given it our best shot! Fingers crossed I'm posting a preg test for review in the next few weeks 😉 xx
