Miscarriage or chemical

Hi all,
I’m just wondering what the difference between cp and miscarriage is? Af was due last Friday. I had positive tests from about Thursday and again on Monday. Yesterday afternoon I started bleeding and it got heavy quite quickly. That evening I did a CB digital weeks and it came up as not pregnant. Very upsetting but at least a clear answer.
I would’ve been about 5/6 from lmp - just for my sanity I’d like to know what people would refer to this as?

My understanding is that a "chemical" pregnancy is a VERY early miscarriage (3-4 weeks) due to the pregnancy being non-viable. So the sperm meets the egg but they have issues so the body terminates.

Given that you wouldn't have known your period wasn't just a few days late if you hadn't tested, I would probably class this more as a chemical than a miscarriage. Either way, it's really shit and I'm sorry you're going through this :(

Usually you would class a miscarriage as the loss of a baby who has a heartbeat so from 6 weeks onwards. But theyre just labels Op, you call it whatever you want because you're the one who has gone through it. Sorry for your loss

This happened to me last month.

I’ve said to myself it was a chem - if I wasn’t TTCing I would have put it down to period down to being 8 days late.

Despite the clearblue ’pregant’, I didn’t ‘feel’ pregnant in the slightest, was suspected something ‘wasn’t right’ a few days in. Kept testing and lines were always faint (never had a strong one) which faded out over a week until spotting, then bleeding.

Maybe it was way to protect myself - but I chose to see it as a very late AF.

However (against docs advice to wait a period) I have fallen pregnant straight away since (currently only 5 weeks). This time I just KNEW before I even took the test. My body, boobs and nausea gave it away! Test came up positive straight away, and really strong so I’ve not doubted.

I felt fine to go for it, and try again as I wasn’t too sad, and didn’t feel my body had to ‘recover’ from anything traumatic. Early mmc is very common, and happens a lot! Tbh, I’d rather have an early 5/6 week mmc than one at 8/9 weeks along.

Good luck, trust your body and mind. Feel/label your experience in whichever way suits you, or makes you gain acceptance!

Thanks all. After a few days of feeling sad I feel v positive again.
As with you Kurly - something just didn’t feel right with me. Always had v faint lines and I just didn’t feel pregnant like I did with dc1.
Onwards and upwards and back to bonking...!
