Confused about dates

Hi all I'm very confused how they date your pregnancy. I have irregular periods but know the exact dates of sex due to partner working away. 9th Feb 14th April and 11th may. I had a internal vagina scan and she said I was measuring 4 to 5 weeks and it had a heartbeat. From the dates I thought you had to take two weeks away etc and that at 4 weeks from last time sex it would never have a heartbeat. Any information is greatly welcomed.

It’ll be the 14th and you’ll be 6-7 weeks along.
You don’t have a heartbeat at 4-5 weeks??
That or you are measuring very small and the baby might not stick?
Personally I would call clinic in the morning and ask them to clarify

Possibly she meant the baby was 4-5 weeks your pregnancy is 6-7 week

If it's the 14th of April which is exactly 4 weeks ago wouldn't that mean I'm 2 weeks? So confused. We deffinatly saw the heartbeat (me and nurse she pointed it out) very confusing x

The added time of two weeks (or more depending on the woman) is the time from the start of the period until ovulation. Technically when you conceive (have sex) then you're ALREADY two weeks pregnant, based on the theory that you'll ovulate on CD14. I didn't ovulate until CD20.. currently I'm measuring 6 days behind but that'd make sense as I ovulated late. HTH.
