Hi
Me and hubby are desperately trying to concieve. We've been using ovulation sticks for 6 months, using fertility gel for 2 months. I know that 6 months might not seem that long and just wondered if anyone knows anything else we could try?

4 months, had an early miscarriage last month and I’m now 5 weeks with this one so fingers crossed it sticks!

Hey there,

So if you are over age of 35 you can go see your GP now about fertility. If you are under, you can always go still just for general chat and some reassurance.

What are you cycle lengths like?

For us, DS was conceived the one time we didn't use any protection but we are now at end of cycle 10 TTC #2

Lenners just be aware you are asking people who are more likely to have taken longer to conceive as they have come to forums to discuss conception issues. If you asked the general population there is likely to be more varied answers. My doctor has told me even for perfectly healthy couples, only 80% of them will be successful within a year so it really varies

Also you could try temping to confirm when you ovulate. Are you taking folic acid and vitamin d? Apart from that make sure you are eating healthily and exercising. Obviously also dtd every other day in your fertile week if poss and there’s not much more you can do. Good luck and try not to stress about it. I found speaking to my doctor really helped

2 years then a miscarriage then a successful pregnancy for our first. Second happened on second cycle of no contraception, before we had even started trying properly.

All the advice others have given is spot on, 80% naturally conceive within a year. Ovulation sticks and temping will confirm your hormones are correct but not that you are actually ovulating - only a scan can definitively confirm that.

Stay healthy and active, try relax as much as you can (avoiding stress really does help) and try enjoy this time as much as you can - we kept lists of things we wanted to do/enjoy before we had a family while we were trying and focused on ticking things off. It's so hard to avoid thinking about when you want is so so bad though!
