TTC Alternative medicine... acupuncture?

Hi all, I was wondering whether anyone could help me out or give me some tips. My husband and I have been actively (very) trying to conceive now for 6 months. It's getting harder to take the disappointment as we are using ovulation sticks and feel we are doing everything possible to help the baby cause. However, I'm very open to trying some alternative therapy, acupuncture or something similar. Does anyone have any positive experience or any information on whether this could feasibly help? All comments appreciated except those that say 'relax and it will happen' Grinx

I'm doing both accupuncture and reflexology at the moment. No idea if it will work, but both have helped me chill out and relaxed (I have a very stressful job).

@minimalpatience that's very interesting and worth the money if you've experienced a positive experience with relaxation etc. I haven't looked into reflexology, it's all very new. Do you have both with the same person? Thanks for your reply Smile

And how long have you been trying, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi, I see different people, but they coincidentally know each other. I work in the City (London) and they both work near my office.

I was doing acupuncture last year at the same time as taking Clomid and got pregnant on my 2nd round of Clomid - prior to that I'd been trying for about 5 years. Unfortunately we had a late miscarriage at 20 weeks and had to start again.

I'm currently on my 4th cycle but 1st with Clomid. I started reflexology Mid way through my first cycle, and accupuncture on my 3rd. I'm at the stage where "every little helps" as even if there is a risk it isn't doing anything fertility wise, it really has helped me chill out Smile

How about you?

Good luck too.

Sorry should have been clearer! I only did acupuncture for 2 cycles last year - I hadn't gad any prior to that. I have pcos and don't ovulate spontaneously which is prob why it took so long.

Hi @minimalpatience thank you for your very informative reply. It seems like both offer positive results, even if that means relaxing or feeling pro active whilst waiting .... and waiting for it to happen! I'm based in London too and there seem to be an abundance of good practitioners, about £60 a session - is that about what you pay? I know what you mean about it being expensive, I think I will have to try one and then another as both together would make me broke! Also, maybe this is silly but do you go for a session monthly in line with your cycle? Or weekly? Which do you enjoy more? Thanks again for your help x

Hi no problem, both of the ladies I see charge £70 a session. I have been once a week but they did both say that once I get pregnant the frequency will reduce - I've some sessions on Thursday so can double check what they said if that helps. Overall I prefer the reflexology as acupuncture can hurt occasionally. Good luck Smile
