Hi all,

Worked up the courage to write my first post here, although I have been following you guys for what feels like ages.

My long story short, I have been wanting a baby for as long as I can remember and in April we decided to give it a go and if it happens, great!

I believe I have ovulated on 29/04 and dd on 22/04 and on 29/04. Soon after ov started getting sharp pain in my right side for a couple of days so started getting my hopes up. Problem is, I feel that this month I have been dry as a desert (sorry tmi) when this is usually not the case. Period is due in 4 days but I have no symptoms by now I usually have tender breasts and become very moody but nothing yet. Tested 6/5 early I know and bfn and tested again this morning and BFN again. I thought that if pregnant it would at least be a fain line at 11 dpo :(

My question is, should I keep my hopes up and keep testing or give up and have a glass of wine? (Stopped drinking 3 weeks ago hoping it will help)

Also, it would be great to know what helped you when ttc. I don't know a lot about ov tests, checking temperature, chats etc.

Sorry its a long post - it'd be great to have someone to speak to as not ready to tell anyone we are ttc in case we can't .

Best of luck. I don't have any advice but I couldn't read and run because I m in the exact same position and also new here too. I am due AF tomorrow and had BFN this morning and on Saturday using the 6 days early FRER. I don't know anything about the ovulation tests or temping either so I will be interested in others replies.

I also have a good few symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, veiny boobs, cramps since ovulation and shooting/stabbing pains in pelvic area so was surprised with BFN's. I suppose it's just a waiting game but we are not on our own.

I have no friends in the ttc stage, hubby is great but he just doesn't get it lol

There’s a possibility, yes. I honestly wouldn’t bother testing until you miss your period going forward, just because seeing no second line can be really disappointing, more so than your period showing up. Opks are a good way to go. You can buy them from amazon, I think they’re about £3.50 for 30 sticks. They will give you a more accurate idea of when you are about to ovulate (although they can’t confirm you definitely ovulate as you can get positive opks but your ovaries actually don’t release an egg). Temping is the most reliable way but it’s also very strict in the way it’s done. I wasn’t able to temp because I get up a lot in the night. You have to take your temperature at the same time every day after a certain amount of sleep, before you get out of bed.

Symptoms in your tww are neither here nor there. I’ve been ttc for 19 months and in the first year or so, I mostly had very intense symptoms in my tww, some months I’d have none. Now I get no symptoms at all, not even sore boobs. They aren’t pregnancy related anyway, they’re just due to a rise in progesterone after you ovulate. So I wouldn’t worry about having symptoms or not because it really doesn’t mean all that much.

Also, the motto on here is “drink til it’s pink”. Having a few drinks now and again isn’t going to harm your chances of conceiving and even if you drank in your tww, it wouldn’t have any affect on an embryo at that stage anyway. Plus if you end up being a long term ttc’er (although hopefully you won’t) you’ll find that alcohol becomes a staple part of your diet to get you through yet another failed month. Good luck!

@bubblegum89, thanks for the insight. I was hoping to temp going forward to have a better understanding but I never knew the ins and outs of it. Turns out I would be the same as yourself in that I wake several times a night! I hope you get your BFP very soon.
