Older Want-to-be mum and IVF

Total newbie here and needing some sound experience advice.

Without too much detail find myself single on the wrong side of 40 :( I've had one cycle of egg collection (freezing). Idea being that I'll have enough in the hatchery when Mr Right rocks up and wants to hop on the IVF bus. If not - "single-mum-by-choice" or social infertility will be my destination. The former scares the shit outta me, bc IVF aint cheap as a self funder, leave myself a penniless mum, I've always imagine this happening with a partner. The latter - well... I can't even.

My AMH is low and my first cycle I only managed 3 eggs. I'm trying not to loose my shit about that. I was on a longer protocol to get that (1 week progyn-11 days bermfola/meriofert). Now I have to decide what next. Spend the next 3 months zenning it out (the whole process was super stressful for me), saving money) and supplimenting it up to hopefully get more on the next round.

Would value anyone's experience on the matter. Feels pretty lonely and scary doing this on my own. Thanks All

Hi Ali,

You might get a better response to this question on the infertility board or donor conception. So you may want to post there too

My understanding are that the chances of egg freezing working at your age are minimal (sorry to sound blunt) and most people opt for putting their eggs with a donor sperm if they want to leave the option of genetic parenthood open in the future? Did your clinic talk to you about this?

With only three eggs at 40 your chances of success are on the low end with ivf and donor sperm would give you the best chances of success.

Scary I know, but at least that leaves the option for you to use the embryos in the future?
