TTC first baby cycle one! Anyone else out there?

So.... first baby 🤞🏼🙏🏽🤞🏼🙏🏽 Meant to be ovulating tomorrow. Main challenge atm is keeping things fun with the husband and not making him feel like a baby making machine 😂 How’s it going for other hopeful first time mummy’s?

@Crossfitgirl - I count day after ov as 1dpo.
Mine is quite short too, but I think you can lengthen it naturally with a good diet and vitamin C. Or also heard Vitex helps otherwise but that is a bit more drastic I think. What cd are you?

@rosesandponies I am not very good at looking at CM. Also (tmi) I find it hard when having a lot of sex what is sperm and what is CM 😳

@flapjackered ahh I will try some vitamins! DH has vitamin c and d and zinc. I may start folic acid. I'm cd13 today, come on ov! I meant what do you count as the day you actually ovulate? Do you count the day you get a positive OPK?

@Crossfitgirl - ahh sorry! I temp as well so i normally count the dipped temp before it rises. Which normally is the day after the positive opk.

I am using clearblue this month too and got a flashing smiley which means ov is on its way. Only trouble is I had a bit of an argument with DH last night as this documentary came on about breastfeeding in public and he was totally grossed out by it! He is not comfortable with people breastfeeding in public. It does make me worried that he is so immature about it. He says he will be different when it is me but it has worried me a bit 🙁

@flapjackered thanks, I will count ov as the day after a positive OPK. I am not doing them next month as we will be on holiday so I think we'll have lots of sex anyway and it'll be during the middle of my cycle, but I've decided I'm gonna try clear blue after that as it'll be 6 months of trying by October and I may get a temp too then!

I am sure he will come around and won't care when it's you, lots of people are uncomfortable with breastfeeding in public, but when your baby is hungry and crying you gotta do what you gotta do! I think men can mature when they need to, and if anything can do it a baby will! I wouldn't worry too much:-)

if it makes you feel better we also argued last night, DH had a go at me because I'd left the kitchen in a mess, we'd had a late tea and some wine and I blew up and said well do you think I'm going to be perfect when we have kids? If anything the house will be messier! I'm about to ovulate too, I got the faintest of faintest line on my OPK last night but I would have rather stuck a fork in my eye than had sex with him!! You know, I don't like the idea of conceiving with bad vibes.

I think if we'd had sex and made a baby whilst being so mad with each other, we'd make a horrible child or something like it'd not sleep ever or cry all the time and be a little terror! 😂😂

@flapjackered yeh I’m really enjoying it so far. I’ve used OPKs a couple of times when the apps suggested I could be ovulating (using Flo and ovia) but then got disheartened when it said I wasn’t so I vowed not to use them haha. But now I get why, I must have ovulated later than I thought and just need to tune into my body a bit better.
Im open to using OPKs next cycle but feel a bit overwhelmed by needing to do it twice a day?

@summerbab you can just do them once a day, the clear blue ones are just fmu once a day so wouldn't be too much. I do them at work and it's no trouble really, I am currently sat in the loo at work with my OPK next to me! I do have to bring a pee pot with me though so practicality isn't great, but I just do the other one when I get home from work. So do one around lunchtime and another around tea time x

Really frustrated that DH is sick too and I am worried he won't get well enough to Dtd in time this month. I have a feeling the solid smiley is coming tomorrow or Thurs and we haven't had sex yet this cycle. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Yes @Summerbab the clearblue ones are so easy to use and clear. They are a bit pricier but I think it is worth it and only require a once a day poas!

Angry baby from angry sex that's hysterical 😂 AF is finishing for me now so I'm going to start with the clear blue otks tomorrow morning! I am already freaking out because we are away staying with friends the weekend I think I might ovulate, husband gets worried about people overhearing so I'm already predicting a row! @Crossfitgirl do you have many friends with babies who breast feed? My husband was squeamish too the first few times he saw it happen close up but he's become completely laid back about it now that there seems to be a woman feeding a baby at every social occasion we go to, he doesn't bat an eyelid!

@SunshineButton sorry love 😞 which method/ap are you using for knowing when you're fertile?
I'm cd8 have stopped bleeding- just tried the clear blue otk for the first time seemed much easier to understand than the cheaper strips! No smiley face yet

@crossfitgirl you did make me laugh with that not having sex when angry in case it made an angry baby haha!

Think I’m defo out for this cycle also. Currently on cd 38 period is late by four days been having Aunt Flo symptoms for a week and yesterday quite painful cramps down one side. I deliberately didn’t test as I knew these were af symptoms despite a no show, but gave in this morning and tested just to hurry AF along. As predicted came back BFN but now I just feel frustrated and it’s made me realise how much I want it as although every logical sense in my brain knew it wasn’t going to be positive some tiny little optimistic me was pleading to be proved wrong! Anyway onwards and upwards for next cycle defo going to enjoy a glass of wine at the weekend now.

I just use Ovia. It was my first cycle trying, we decided to start on the last day of my supposed fertile week so I knew it was a long shot this month anyway. We’ve been talking about it for a while so had been taking folic acid to make sure I was ready whenever he was - but his timing sucks! Lol.

I’ve promised him we’ll keep it casual and fun so I’m not going to use OPKs any time soon, we’ll just BD regularly between AFs and see how it goes.

I was sent to a and e last night for them to tell me I was currently miscarrying. Wanted it to happen when someone was with me but it's all just come out now I'm alone. 😭

He has gone to work, I'm fine with that just wish it would of happened when he was here. I'm with my mum now x
