So.... first baby πŸ€žπŸΌπŸ™πŸ½πŸ€žπŸΌπŸ™πŸ½ Meant to be ovulating tomorrow. Main challenge atm is keeping things fun with the husband and not making him feel like a baby making machine πŸ˜‚ How’s it going for other hopeful first time mummy’s?

@FlapJackered of course :) first midwife appointment booked for 24th August

ProseccoBee · 27/07/2018 09:59

@Delilah 7 how exciting that your all booked in! I've always thought that official appointments would make it more real for me and until then I'd be walking around in limbo not quite believing it haha! I hope you have a good weekend of celebrations.

I'm currently on cd33 AF is due sunday! Been having tell tale signs all week so just willing it to come and go so I can get started again. Next week were going on holiday for two weeks so think the holiday spirit will enable us to do the deed every day. Going at it full force haha.

Delilah7 · 27/07/2018 10:03

@ProseccoBee just trying to let it set in! πŸ˜‚ I'm now worried about any pain I feel

ProseccoBee · 27/07/2018 10:12

@Delilah 7 I think it's only natural to be worried and everything any pain when carrying such precious cargo,I would definitely be the same. I think it's because it's so longed for and after ttc you are more in tune with your body and have a heightened sense of awareness of twinges etc.

Delilah7 · 27/07/2018 10:15

@ProseccoBee I don't want the time to go away or the weeks as I wanna enjoy every moment but even getting to 6 weeks I'd feel happier. I know the miscarriage rate is lower after week 5

Hcna23 · 27/07/2018 10:27

@delilah7 try not to worry.. but if you do have any concerns always call up your doctors and they can always refer you to the epu if need be.. I went in to my doctors on Monday with concerns about sharp pains I was getting all down one side and some brown bleeding on and off and was referred to the epu for Wednesday morning where they gave me a scan to see if they could work out where the bleed was coming from...

It’s all very reassuring to just be able to see baby on the monitor moving around

Summerbab · 27/07/2018 11:38

@delilah7 I know it’s so normal to worry that something bad will happen. But think of all the women that it works out for - it’s a lot!
TTC can be really stressful so try and relish in this joy, live in the moment and trust that everything will work out just as it shouldπŸ’›

Delilah7 · 27/07/2018 11:43

@Summerbab @Hcna23 thanks girls. It's all new to me as it is others and I'm just overwhelmed it's happened. I'm so lucky and I'm one of those people that I will thoroughly enjoy being pregnant. Whatever happens! get to tell the common mother in law tonight!!!

rosesandponies · 27/07/2018 17:39

@Delilah7 must be exciting to be all booked in! Not surprised that you're being hyper vigilant to start with it's such an exciting time!
I'm on cd3 - period will last until at least Sunday. When should I start testing with the clear blue otcs? They were £££ so I don't want to waste them πŸ˜‚ I am going to go for initiating DTD at least every 3 days (I will initiate if it's been 3 days with nothing and try to say yes every time when he does!) then every day when I see a flashing or solid smiley face

Crossfitgirl · 27/07/2018 20:43

I would be super vigilant too! Keep us updated @delilah7! @rosesandponies I think the clear blue opks you test the day before you would if you were doing the ICs. I read the instructions online and they test before you can ovulate as they set a baseline level of hormone, then they can detect how much it increases. So for me it tells me to start testing day 7 for a 25 day cycle, even though the ICs tell me to start testing day 8. I have never used them though- I just looked them up online (the website gives you the instructions!) before deciding to continue with ICs cos I'm a cheapskate lol x

Hi everyone,

Can I join please?

I'm ttc baby #1, on cycle 1 CD 22. Been having cramping, particularly on the left side, a bit of bloating and some lower back pain not in the usual places although everything I have read suggests that these were all far too early so I think I was just being over sensitive. Since I've realised that they all seem to have gone!

AF is due on Wednesday so I'm just going to have to to see what happens I guess.

PixieDust2 · 27/07/2018 22:18

Welcome @sunshineButton!
Same here, baby #1 cycle 1 CD 22 AF due on Wednesday. I've had some slight nausea and tender boobs but nothing else so far and I think it might just all be in my head. When are you planning to start testing? I'm havinu such a hard time waiting!

FlapJackered · 27/07/2018 23:42

@rosesandponies - I started testing on cd10 last cycle and ovulated cd18. As CrossFit mentioned I think there is a guide on the website when to start testing.
That sounds like a good strategy re DTD. I am doing a similar thing but trying to do the SMEP which is every other day πŸ˜• then every day from smiley face day....may not manage that though!

I told my sister this evening that we are trying, I do feel a bit inconsiderate ttc when she is having such problems with it, but happier now she knows, it won't come as much of a shock to her if we do.

SunshineButton · 28/07/2018 07:57

Hi @pixiedust2

In together eh? I had strong cramping this morning so I’m trying not to read to much into that either way, but I desperately want to test. I just know it’s too early so it’s likely to be negative and that’ll be really disappointing so I’m trying to hold out until at least Monday and use an early response test I think.

You?

Crossfitgirl · 28/07/2018 09:37

Welcome @sunshinebutton! First cycle... exciting! You start to notice every little symptom in the 2ww, you do right to wait to test as like you say it's not accurate doing too early. @rosesandponies I'm glad you've told your sister, it sounds like it was the right thing for you. How did she react? I may tell my sister when I next see her x

SunshineButton · 28/07/2018 11:17

Thanks @Crossfitgirl Smile

Desperately trying to stay patient!

FlapJackered · 29/07/2018 11:56

@Crossfitgirl - she took it really well and said she thought it was a good idea not to hang around unless there is a reason to. I still felt guilty but I think it was the right thing to do.

DH is sick unfortunately and we were due to start SMEP today so not a great start.

KlaraG · 29/07/2018 16:44

I am currently in cycle 2 of TTC, to be honest I am finding the whole experience rather painful... I have waited patiently for two years for my husband to feel as ready as I do, so I feel it is a long time coming. Meanwhile I have watched some of my closest friends misscarry and struggle to conceive. I am 32. I know I need to relax but so much easier said then done right? X

SunshineButton · 29/07/2018 16:58

Hi @KlaraG

Me too - I've waited five years and started to believe he would never be ready! I still don't think he really is, but I've been through some really bad depression and a huge part of that was because I felt like I was always going to be kept hanging, and he'd always find something else we needed to focus on first.

We're trying now but I think it's going to take some serious sinking in once it does happen for him to get used to the idea! He'll get there though.

SunshineButton · 29/07/2018 17:00

I'm also trying really hard to internalise all the wondering and symptom spotting so he doesn't get overwhelmed with 'baby crazy'!

Summerbab · 30/07/2018 10:38

I’ve bought β€˜Taking charge of your fertility’ by Toni Weschler. Has anyone read it? I’m only half a chapter in but already I’m learning so much.
It says that you can’t judge when you will ovulate based on previous cycles and it’s a myth that even women with a 28 day cycle will always ovulate around day 14.
So tracking periods on an app with no other symptoms will not necessarily help you get pregnant - as the apps use last months info.
It says cervical mucus is the single best way to signify ovulation, with temperature and cervical position used to corroborate.

I will post more info as and when I read but it’s certainly put my mind at ease. I was stressing as I was sure I was ovulating but according to when my period was due it didn’t seem to fit.

Has anyone else read it and if so how has/does it help you?

FlapJackered · 30/07/2018 15:05

@Summerbab I read that a little while ago, it's a great book isn't it! I started charting after reading it. Do you use Opks? I find using charting and opks together a good way to find ovulation. I had a 29 day cycle last one and ovulated on cd18, which is later than the average and I have a shorter luteal phase at 11days.
Most of the apps will find your ovulation date from your temperature combined with your past cycles, if you have just started using them they will likely just suggest the average.
What app do you use?

PixieDust2 · 30/07/2018 15:24

@sunshinebutton I'm trying my hardest to wait till Wednesday but I may have a try one tomorrow morning. Did you test today? How did it go?

Crossfitgirl · 30/07/2018 17:24

@summerbab sounds like a good book, I may have a read myself. Interesting about the CM! @flapjackered do you count your ovulation day as the day you get your positive OPK or the day after?

I'm worried about a short luteal phase as I think it can only have been about 8 or 9 days last month! My apps say it should be around day 11/12, but I'd gone from symptoms which correlated with my faint lines on the OPK, not an actual positive OPK - but it indicated I had ovulated on day 17 of a 25 day cycle. I'm doing them this month too, trying 3 a day, and all negatives 2 days past my predicted ovulation date.
I am checking my CM though and it seems like EWCM so must be near!

rosesandponies · 30/07/2018 18:16

@Crossfitgirl EWCM is meant to be the best sign but I have to say I don't think I've ever seen any 😞 I just don't make enough of it!
