So.... first baby πŸ€žπŸΌπŸ™πŸ½πŸ€žπŸΌπŸ™πŸ½ Meant to be ovulating tomorrow. Main challenge atm is keeping things fun with the husband and not making him feel like a baby making machine πŸ˜‚ How’s it going for other hopeful first time mummy’s?

@luckykitty13 omg congratulations!! So pleased for you! You'll have to keep us all updated!
@delilah7 hope you had a lovely birthday 😊
@flapjackered re the OPK I've read on other forums some ladies get a faint line before the dark one comes, so I'm hoping for the dark one today as I'm getting what I think are ovulation pains and my nipples are hard... hoping the test will confirm what my body is telling me so I can stop using the tests! If i ovulate I prob won't test again as I just wanted to check I was actually ovulating as I have pcos. Although the clear blue digital ones sound very tempting with telling you your fertile days as well as ovulation! Xxx

Hi All,
Hope you don’t mind me joining in. Spent yesterday afternoon reading through the thread and think I’m all caught up! Im recently married (March) and my husband and I are trying for our first baby! Very exciting but scary too. This is our second cycle but to be quite honest I hadn’t really thought too much into all the timings of things last month and just went with the flow...which obviously didn’t work. So this month I’m sciencing it up and have sat down and worked my cycle out properly. I’m due my period next weekend but am horrendous for symptom spotting ao already did a test which was obvsiouly negative with it being so early. Been having very vivid dreams, been sick in the evenings before bed and have this strange tingly feeling in my uterus. Bit of boob pain but just the one side which is strange. I’m horrendous for overthinking so might just all be in my head xxx

Chanel05 · 08/07/2018 14:12

Hello :) I’m jumping over too! This is my first month ttc. I finished my withdrawal bleed earlier in the week so I don’t think I can properly tell. Against the advice of the opks, I have decided to use them this month, blindly I guess. Any advice?

FlapJackered · 08/07/2018 16:54

@Crossfitgirl good tips! Maybe I will try that next cycle. The trouble is normally we Dtd only a couple of times a week so he knows something is up if I want it more often.
I got a positive opk/solid smiley this morning - do you how long have I got now before I ov?
DH is working early morning tomorrow so it would mean waking him up super early which he is not going to be overjoyed at! Do you think it will still be in time tomorrow eve?

Welcome @ScientistTTC and @Chanel05, good luck @Scientist 🀞🏻

Delilah7 · 08/07/2018 19:41

Thanks everyone for the happy birthdays.

@LuckyKitty13 on your first cycle!! Congratulations!!!

GreyC · 08/07/2018 19:55

Hello! Have been reading for a while. Mine & my fiancé’s first ttc Cycle. Sort of muddles through this first month. I have a 26 day cycle so getting used to all these timings! If we got it right I will be having to test while we are away.. when AF Is due. I’m not sure if I should take a rest or just wait & see what happens.

rosesandponies · 08/07/2018 20:23

@LuckyKitty13 congratulations!!! You must be so excited have you been to see the midwife?
Welcome to the newcomers
@FlapJackered and @Crossfitgirl as those who have been on the thread a while know DTD at fertile times has been a struggle for me - we are not very regular and consistent with that stuff anyway so the pressure of TTC virtually ground things to a halt last cycle. This cycle has been good as DH got on board and we DTD 6 days in a row in my fertile week. However, there were a LOT of tears over the fortnight beforehand from me (I went a bit nuts...) It sounds weird, but once we got in the swing of things after a couple of nights this cycle it became easier and more fun, like 'how shall we do it today, what shall we try?' I made a point of initiating yesterday when he knew I was no longer fertile as well to show it is him not just a baby that I want (think some men worry about that, especially the first baby, becoming just a baby-making machine and being replaced! πŸ˜‚) This thread has made me feel so much better about all this, it's weird how I would struggle to admit that DTD can be a problem even to my closest friends

Congratulations @LuckyKitty13 amazing news!
I'm new to this, it's our first month TTC after stopping the pill end of May after over 10 years on it! Had my usual withdrawal bleed but no sign of AF for me and I'm now on CD 41. No idea when I ovulated or if I ovulated at all as not been tracking it, just been using the app Flo. Have done 3 tests now and all BFNs. The 'symptoms' seem to have eased a bit the last day or two but they were really intense around CD 30-38 and I had convinced myself this was it! After 3 negative tests I'm now just waiting on AF but no idea what to expect or what these feelings/symptoms/side effects are!

LuckyKitty13 · 08/07/2018 20:36

Thank you so much everyone. It's a bit of a shock that it's happened so fast! I have to say though, that despite never being pregnant before, I just knew I was before I even took the test!
I haven't seen anyone yet as only 4 weeks, but I'm having a private midwife so I have sent her an email to ask what the next step is.

Delilah7 · 09/07/2018 07:34

Thought I'd update you guys. So I'm on my 3rd cycle and I know they say it can take 3 months before your pill is out so I'm HOPING this month can do something. I noticed in my knickers some white ish discharge last night so we DTD yesterday, hoping I get ( TMI) that slimy clear stuff soon so I know I'm defo near ovulation. Says it should be Wednesday so I'll just try do it most days this week! Really hoping we fall pregnant soon. X

Crossfitgirl · 09/07/2018 08:37

@delilah7 good luck! I think I have just ovulated so I am now in the 2ww! I tried doing OPKs this time and got really disheartened when I didn't get any positive tests, however I did get some clear EWCM, ovulation type pain and sensitive boobs on saturday, and as you can see reading down I got a faint line on the ovulation test alongside these symptoms so think maybe the OPKs just didn't pick up the lh surge. I'm going with my body's signs rather than worrying and assuming I DID ovulate, and we DTD both sat and sun! (Unheard of for us - we are usually like once a week if that!) I'm super chuffed anyway. Hehe. I had to proper jump on my DH!
I have heard that you can get pregnant as soon as you come off the pill, but it can just take time for your periods to be regular etc, and don't forget it's normal to take up to a year to conceive even if you're super fertile, although obviously we want it to happen before then - but just to say not to get down about it and it may take some patience. That's what we're all here for! xxx

Delilah7 · 09/07/2018 09:11

@Crossfitgirl thanks lovely. You're very positive I like it! I don't wanna use OPKS as I'll get completely obsessed and my DH will be very put off by that atm, as he will think it's all mechanical etc. I just want to let nature take its course but I'm getting bored already πŸ˜‚ xx

Crossfitgirl · 09/07/2018 09:35

@delilah7 I did them in secret!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I hid my pee pot in the tub where i keep all my bubble bath!!! Haha so DH is none the wiser. thought I'd get obsessed but I'm not inclined to do them again next month. Im bored of the waiting too and im sure this is only my 2nd cycle looking back- feels like longer I thought it was actually my 3rd! Ahh what we like xx

Delilah7 · 09/07/2018 10:06

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ @Crossfitgirl good idea. But I can't hide stuff from mine he finds everythinnnnnng. Xx

FlapJackered · 09/07/2018 10:37

@rosesaandponies 6 days in a row, that is amazing! I am so happy for you after the worry you had before then. I am not sure we would manage that :/ - I am going to initiate tonight and hope it is a little more sexy than yesterday's - 'let's have sex' 'ok', then silence, then an attempt to make things more romantic with little success :(

@Delilah7 good luck! I think I should be ovulating today or tomorrow so we will be in similar times in the tww.

@crossfitgirl how many opks do you do per day? I do 3 a day and on the day I got a positive I got a faint line later in the day so maybe you just missed the surge?

I am going completely ott this month and doing opks, clearblue ov tests and temping...I missed it last month, so determined not to this time!
I understand not wanting to get too obsessed though - I am way over the line of too obsessed! Saying that it is my happy place, I am more chilled knowing where I am than I would be winging it. That is mainly because my cycles have ranged from 35 to 56 days so I wouldn't be able to estimate my fertile time without some help!

Crossfitgirl · 09/07/2018 11:16

@flapjackered I was doing 2 a day, but on the day I think I ovulated i only did one in the morning, got a faint line, then I couldn't test later as we were at a wedding, I then had a faint line again with my first pee the next morning, then the afternoon back to nothing at all. So I do think maybe I just missed it that one time I couldn't test twice. How are you finding the OPKs? Do you find the clear blue better than the cheapies / would you recommend any other brand?
I thought about trying the clear blue, you just POAS once a day with that one don't you? It's a bit easier and more convenient but it's expensive - my friend used it and is about to give birth and recommended it.
I'd be the same if my cycles were so irregular, rather know where you're at than just chancing it. You do right!

Delilah7 · 09/07/2018 12:06

@FlapJackered I can pester you for positive energy then! X

rosesandponies · 09/07/2018 14:35

Argh TWW sucks, although I already feel so pre menstrual that I'm 80% certain July will not be my month, all the usual stuff I expect to happen is happening, nothing feels different.
@FlapJackered lol thanks - I don't think we even would have done 6 days in a row since when we first became a couple at Uni lol. I'm hopeful that we continue this way with him on board and determined - although the scorchio weather doesn't help, would rather spend the evening in a pub garden with a nice G&T πŸ˜‚
@ChloeF21 and others who are off the pill recently, I was on the pill for 10 years and it's still not completely settled down for me after 5 months. We have been trying without barrier methods for 3 months. Each cycle is getting shorter which is good - initially they were nearly 6 weeks! I went to see the doctor to let them know that I'm TTC and to say when I stopped taking the pill - it's made me feel a bit better that it's on record in case we've had no joy by Christmas. 3-6 months seems to be the time it took for friends of mine who were on the pill

Ladies just got a very dull pain in tummy would say like a period pain so guessing ovulation pain. Does this mean it's happening today or is brewing?!?

rosesandponies · 09/07/2018 17:17

@Delilah7 it's on its way - I'd start DTD now and as much as you can next few days! Good luck hon x

@rosesandponies I best get busy!! Xx

Crossfitgirl · 09/07/2018 18:54

@delilah7 yes definitely get on it, check your CM too! I get a twinge usually on my right side where I think my ovary is, I feel it more when I have a full bladder and then when I wee... it has lasted around 3 days hardly noticeable at first, then on and off the 2nd day, theb tailing off again. For the past 2 months i have definitely felt this, sort of in the middle of my cycle when i think i prob should be ovulating - so I have interpreted it as ovulation! It was also when i had the faint line on my opk so I'm almost certain!
Ladies, just out of interest, is this similar to what other people experience?
Does anyone else get ov pain?
Xxx

Ps @rosesandponies go you with your sexy time!

Delilah7 · 09/07/2018 19:05

@Crossfitgirl defo has a small ( tmi ) white snailtrail in my pants today so! X

FlapJackered · 09/07/2018 19:22

@rosesandponies I know! - I initiated sex with DH tonight and he rolled his eyes and said 'it's 30c!!' - not ideal. It was much less mechanical and more fun tonight though!

@Delilah7 I am getting those period type pains too so hopefully that means ov.

@Crossfitgirl clearblue are great actually, really clear and you only have to POAS once with fmu - however they are a little on the pricy side... I like opks as they give me more of an idea when I'm fertile with my long cycles.

Chanel05 · 10/07/2018 06:40

I’m on cd10 and this is my first month being off the pill. I bought some clear blue adv. digital to use. I am following flo (wasn’t expecting anything yet as goodness knows what my body may be up to at his point), but dtd yesterday as the app said it was my first fertile day (been using it for 6 months whilst on pill so again, know it’s hit and miss). I did the test on Sunday and it was just the clear circle so I left it yesterday as I didn’t want to be toooo obsessive (though that ship has now officially sailed!). This morning I did another and got a flashing smiley! What should I be doing this week? I assume I’m going to ovulate? Any help please this is all new to me Grin
