How long before ttc after ep surgery?

I had a salpingectomy (ie ep and fallopian tube removed) on April 23rd. I'm really confused how long I need to wait before ttc again. I've not had a period since then, and I've read that you have to wait 2 cycles - but what does this mean? Does it mean I can try 2 weeks after the second period starts? Or 2 weeks after the third one starts?

Was no good at biology at school.

i was given loads of different info about ttc after an ep. i only waited til after my 1st period after the salpingectomy, fell pg and had a mc. my body was still recovering from traumatic surgery. i think with hindsight i needed to wait 3m to ttc again, you ahve been thru a lot and need time to grieve. have you been onto the ttc after an ectopic pregnancy thread yet?

also have you been referred to a specialist? it may help to have some tests done.

I agree with Lissie I only waited until I had one period. But had lots of pain etc around ovulation and af. This is month 3 and I havent had nearly as much pain this month so thing are settling down a bit I think. I thought only way to make myself feel better was to ttc again but I needed time. Come and join us on the ttc after ep.Good Luck for the future.

forgot to add that my periods since the ep have been v painful and heavy so prob wait for that to settle down. i had my ep in feb so its 3m and its flown by! the longer you give your body the more chance you have of a successful pg. ep is mentally and physically traumatic. dont put yourself under any extra pressure. i wish id waited til now before ttc. im only just coming to terms with it.

I had a fallopian tube removed in mid July - not because of an EP, I had a fluid build up and they thought it would help my chances of successful IVF. I then got pregnant straight away (after ttc for 18 months). Unfortunately it is ectopic and is miscarrying on its own. Even now they have said there is no reason for us to wait if we want to try and we were not told to wait after the salpingectomy. A bit scare to try again after whats happened, but i guess we will.
