Talk to me about faint lines

Long time lurker and occasional poster but never avid as wasn't TTC and didnt have any children.

My period is due on the 9th as per my tracker app (I normally come on a couple of days before this) but I've been a bit impatient and just done a test. Line was very faint and I'm not sure if it's just wishful thinking (picture attached). I didn't time it exactly but I'm 80% sure it was done within 5 mins.

I don't feel any symptoms and have had the occasional "readying for my period" twinge, as usual. No bleeding as of yet.

Would you get a faint line over the 5 minute window? Or am I just seeing the outline of where the line would show if it were positive?

I haven't mentioned to DH yet as didn't want to get his hopes up. I'm thinking might do a test in the morning with my first wee and time properly this time to double check if there's still a faint line, then if there Is, wait for my missed period.

That isn't faint! Looks positive to me - did the test say to read at 5 mins?

I thought it had to be the same colour as the control line.

@Emma198 the test said not to read after 5 mins.

They both look shades of pink to me. They need to be same width but test line is usually lighter.

So I've woken up stupidly early and done a test, timed it properly etc.

I don't think it's much darker than last night but there's definitely a line Going to tell DH when he wakes up. Then test to be sure after the 9th.
