How important is FMU for a pregnancy test?

Just as the title says really. Has anyone had a negative the previous evening and a clear positive the next day?
I'm on CD27, but have massively irregular periods (have only had one so far this year), so my period might not come for months.
I'm stressing out a bit over some symptoms and my doctor telling me I need to do one so I was wondering if it's worth me doing it now for possible reassurance, or if I should just try to chill out about it tonight and do it tomorrow

I had a negative the night before my BFP, if you can bear to then it is definitely better to wait until morning, or at least hold your urine as long as possible before doing the test tonight.

MollyCule · 06/05/2018 18:40

I got BFP in the evening a few days before my period was due. But I think if you can bear to wait till the morning would probably be better!

I've had faint positive in the afternoon with my fourth pregnancy at 11dpo. With my others I waited until I was a week late and got strong positives any time of day. So I would say it's not that important unless you're testing very early.

OreoPancakes · 06/05/2018 18:45

@KitanaKay, that;s exactly what I didn't want to hear Grin
Did you have many symptoms before then, or were you already late?

@MollyCule What made you test that early? Were you just TTC conceive or had you had symptoms?

I'm generally quite impatient but I did have some symptoms. My nipples changed colour, I was super tired and as I was driving home from work and drove past a stinky farm and it made me feel really sick, so I thought to myself "I must be pregnant". I did the test when I got home and didn't even tell DH I was doing it as fully expected it to be negative as it was early and the evening. Good luck!

OreoPancakes · 06/05/2018 19:01

I'm not sure about good luck, yet! Ha ha. It's not an ideal situation as we've only been seeing each other for a month and I don't really see him as a good long-term partner for me, but I unsuccessfully TTC for 11 years before this, so I can't say I wouldn't be happy about it either!

Since having DC I always pee at least once during the night, so FMU is non-existent for me.

jamoncrumpets · 06/05/2018 19:03

My major clue with pregnancy is always my sense of taste changing, and excess saliva. That said, with this one (my third pregnancy) I didn't notice a thing - perhaps I was too busy with DC to notice.

MollyCule · 06/05/2018 19:04

Ah sorry, shouldn't have assumed, should have read your OP properly!

OreoPancakes · 06/05/2018 19:18

No need to apologise, @MollyCule :) It was a bit ambiguous in that regard

You don’t need fmu , but you need to hold your wee for four hours and hardly drink anything.

OreoPancakes · 06/05/2018 20:02

Is that really all, @MyDcAreMarvel? It seems like they could tell people that more often if it's only 4 hours

KitanaKay · 06/05/2018 20:09

Sorry OP! In fairness the night before was an Internet cheapie and the FMU was a FRER so could have been that too, although it was a strong positive. I had had symptoms in that I constantly needed the loo and had lower abdominal “clawings”. I couldn’t bear to wait so did it in the evening and then got all disappointed, so I totally get not wanting to wait till the morning. Maybe the 4 hour hold is a good compromise!

OreoPancakes · 06/05/2018 20:17

Yeh, I have a pack of two, so I can try again tomorrow, anyway, I just hate doing it after so much disappointment for so long - not that I even know what I want it to say right now! Been a few hours already, so I'll just leave it a bit longer and give it a go. Thanks everyone :)

Good luck and please let us know!

OreoPancakes · 07/05/2018 08:01

Tested last night and it was negative. Tried again with FMU, just to be certain, but there wasn't enough to even get the control line 🤦🏽‍♀️ ha ha

Thanks for all the replies
