Question about ovulation tests

Hi everyone

Very new to this board , first month TTC

Have tested for ovulation over the last few days and today was the first positive (faint line though)

I thought this would mean today is the first day of the 4 ish day window but I've input the positive test to fertility friend (which was an approximation if a 38 (!) day cycle based on tracking last month only) and it's shifted my fertile days to end tomorrow (I.e. ovulation tomorrow)

Is that correct? We DTD last night so I was wondering whether to skip today and do it tomorrow for best chances but now I'm not sure

I feel like I've gone Confused .. now we've decided to try I really want to try and get it right first shot

Thanks for any advice x

Ovulation tests are only positive when the second line is same or darker I get a faint line most of my cycle.

Every other test there's no line at all so I thought my LH must have increased somewhat since yesterday..?

A line is not a line when it comes to opks. Anything fainter than the control line is a negative as you'll always have some level of LH in your body but what you are looking for is the big spike in levels. You are probably seeing a small increase leading up to your LH spike.

When you see the positive you ovulate about 12-36 hours later which is why fertility friend is saying your last fertile day is tomorrow - the egg once released only last 12-24 hours.

Go back and log your result as negative and keep testing. Fingers crossed!

Thanks capital

I've attached the photo (hope that's not TMI)

It's not darker but I'm now v confused about it since it is definitely lighter!

Ooh, actually that's very nearly positive if not actually positive. I would try and do another one this afternoon after 4 hours of holding pee and not drinking much as apparently LH is usually released in the morning. Hopefully it will be darker and you'll get your answer.

If you do get a positive I think you are probably fine to wait until tomorrow. The sperm from last night will still be alive and waiting to fertilise the egg then you can top them up probably just as the egg is coming out.
