Cold and flu like symptoms before BFP??

Hi everyone I'm just looking for some advice really..

I'm just wondering has anybody experienced flu/cold like symptoms before getting a BFP? I'm currently between 9-11 DPO and AF is due in 3 days time. I woke up Friday morning feeling like I'd been hit by a bus after feeling completely fine Thursday so it was quite sudden not the usual creeping of the flu coming on. Constant head ache, runny but blocked nose, aching all over, appetite isn't so great and I'm sleeping at every minuet I get also my boobs are really sore and a little veiny. I've read a few things about people getting these symptoms before a BFP but just wanted to speak to someone who has. We've been TTC for just over a year now and have never felt like this before AF. I don't want to get my hopes up encase I'm just unlucky and have genuinely got the flu in such nice wether 😂

Any advice or tips are really appreciated x

Yes!! I had this!! First time was a nasty cough second time was just a full on cold!!! You immune system lowers to accept the baby implanting!!! Ooooh can't wait for you to test!!! Good luck!!!

Britta1 · 06/05/2018 15:01

I had a full on cold for 3 days before getting my BFP, not sure if a coincidence or not though! When you planning to test?

Littleladie · 06/05/2018 15:20

@Cakelaur @Britta1 hey guys thanks for your reply, I tested at 5dpo because I'm so impatient and really want a BFP but it came back neg which I was expecting with it being so early but I'm a little unsure when to test again because I don't want to be disappointed.

I've never felt so ill, my throat is also really sore, I don't want to take anything encase I am but I don't think I can cope with how unwell I feel at the minuet.

Do you's recommend a best time to test? Should I wait until AF is over due or could I do it before? I haven't got any period pains which I usually have, the only pains I had was ovulation pains the day I had a positive ovulation test which was 25/4/18 x

If you O'd on 24th/25th you can defo test now. You'd be about 11dpo. But I'd crack open an frer. It's more likely to give you a decent result.

Also for the cold hot lemon and honey drinks were my saviour! (Double check but I think you can take paracetamol)

Britta1 · 06/05/2018 15:34

I waited until the day after AF was due, my line was so strong however I think I’d have still got a BFP if I’d tested a few days before that.

1 thing I will say is once you do have your BFP the 1st 12 weeks drags so much and brings a whole lot of other worries with it so I’m quite glad I didn’t find out too early!

Good luck whenever you decide to test!

Littleladie · 06/05/2018 15:49

My cycles are a little longer than usual, they've been falling at 38 days so would that matter with taking a test? Could it take longer that usual to get a BFP? I really want to take one but I'm also nervous encase it's the outcome I don't want. I'll go and get a first response tomorrow and test and see what the outcome is, sometimes I think I get line eyes because I'm looking so hard for that second line. If I wee first thing and save it until I get my test will that affect it in any way atal? X

Yup. Just save the wee and keep it until you need to test. When is AF due? Usually once you've ovulated there is a set number of days. The length of time from period to ovulation can change but the time from ovulation to next period is the same. Usually between 10-14 days.

Littleladie · 06/05/2018 17:37

@Cakelaur AF is due on the 9/5/18 so in 3 days times, I can't get to any shops until tomorrow. If there isn't any first response what's the next best thing?

I did. 3 days before my bfp I was absolutley floored with a cold, in bed all day and felt so ill. Next day I was fine!

Cakelaur · 06/05/2018 19:46

Ooh, maybe a clear blue? Gosh I dunno. I've only ever done internet cheapies or frer. Grab a whole bunch of em. The clear blue digital is the least sensitive. That's about all I know!! Oooh I'm so excited for ya!! 🤞🏻

Littleladie · 06/05/2018 20:04

@Nothisispatrick I'm hoping I get my BFP and this is what this flu is about 2nd day of it and I feel dreadful! I'm going to test ASAP!!

OP posts:
Littleladie · 06/05/2018 20:06

@Cakelaur I'll shop around and try and find a frer before I get any other one! I'm excited too but I don't want to get to excited encase it's not my month again. A soon as I've tested tomorrow I will update straight away. I feel like asking my partner to take me to a Tesco garage to get one because I don't think I can wait I feel like I need to know now 😂😂

Has anybody used these before and are they any good? I couldn't find no frer anywhere 😩😩 I might order some online

Cold and flu like symptoms before BFP??

Ive used them before and got a positive result a couple of days before my period was due

LG93 · 07/05/2018 15:56

AF wasn't due for me until Thursday, but I got a very faint BFP on Saturday with a clear and simple, so I would think it is worth a go - they're quite sensitive so if you're due AF on Wednesday I'd expect a hint of a line at least by now - good luck!

Cakelaur · 07/05/2018 16:44

Omg... did you test??
