Coming off Cerelle

Hi,

Came off Cerelle three weeks ago. Have to say I wasn’t expecting the side effects to be exactly like being pregnant! Sore boobs, headaches, cramps, complete exhaustion...

Please reassure me this is normal?? Have POAS and as expected was negative! How long can I expect this to last for do you think? Dr told me it would be almost instaneous as the pill is short acting contraception Hmm

GP is talking bollocks. It's well known that it often takes months for hormones to regulate after taking the pill regularly.

Side effects will lessen over time and you will likely have your first period in the next few weeks - but don't expect to be regular off the bat as that's rare I'm afraid. It'll probably take a few cycles to be back to normal.

Yeah that’s pretty much what I expected!! I said I wanted to come off for a few months before we ttc as I thought it would take a few cycles to regulate. She said that in her experience it wouldn’t take long so that was unnecessary, but I could ‘do that if I felt strongly about it’.

Hooing the side effects will settle soon, it’s the exhaustion that’s really getting to me!

Hi!

I came off Cerelle after 2 years on it in November last year.

Had my first AF 35 days after stopping it and then didn't have another till 118 days later.

I've just had a relatively normal 32 day cycle (period started last night) so hoping things are starting to calm down now.

I was exactly the same with symptoms! Convinced myself I was pregnant straight away but nope - it's your hormones going full crazy as they try to regulate again!

I've been on it 6 years now. I don't have any periods on it. I had a break last year and year before and bled 2 weeks after last pill. Had massive painful period with huge clots both times...old blood.
We're going to ttc baby no 5 in about 3 years time so gonna come off it 6 months before just incase.
My other 4 babies I as PG instantly after taking last pill. So hoping it's that quick again.

Definitely a ‘how long is a piece of string’ situation then! Oh well. At
Least if I’m not pregnant I can mainline caffeine for a few days! Zzzz...
