How do you stop the self pity party? Wanted to cry most of the day

I gave up. After ttc for 19 months unsuccessfully, I’ve just come to terms with the fact that it’s not going to happen and so I put my energy into other things instead. We have two holidays booked and I’m doing a university course. I finally realised that it’s totally out of my control and I’m wasting my life with it all, spending half the month testing for ovulation and the other half praying my period won’t show up. It’s soul destroying but taking so much focus off it all does help. Take up a hobby, book a weekend away, attend an evening class, go to the gym etc

Thanks Bubble I'm ready to give up too

Sorry you're feeling sad OP TTC is the worst, I try and have things to look forward to like days out etc & I have acupuncture which really has helped my mood a lot, some months are worse than others, TBH I don't think there's much you can do just try and look after yourself and do things that will make you happy Flowers

It's hard isn't it. Every time at shows up I have a weeks binge of feeling sorry for myself and eating/drinking whatever I like then I spend the rest of my cycle feeling guilty and wondering if that's why I'm not getting pregnant! I have no tips I'm afraid but interested to see what other people do

How long have you been trying? If more than 18 months go to your GP

How long have you been trying?

Need9HoursSleep · 04/05/2018 17:43

We haven't been trying long compared to others - 7 months actively trying using OPK but like @bubble said I spend first 2 weeks waiting for ovulation and second 2 weeks waiting to test. I went to nurse on Monday to get hormones checked etc so will get results in 2 weeks.

I know it’s hard. Believe me, I’ve been there! It took 11 cycles to conceive my first and 7-8 cycles go conceive the one I’m currently pregnant with. I, like you, watched everyone get pregnant at what seemed to be the drop of a hat. My friend started trying the same month as me and she’s due her baby before I have my 12 week scan! It just takes longer for some people but the odds are everything is fine. If you’re under 35 it really IS normal to take up to a year. I wish you lots of luck!
