Can anyone tell me the procedure for handing in a semen sample for analysis? DH has the Dr next week and is likely to be asked to get a sample, I know the Dr will talk him through it when he goes but any reassurance/advice for him in the meantime? Do you have to hand in the sample within a certain time of collecting? Any experiences on males drs appointments would be helpful, DH is very nervous about it

When we had to do it, it was an at home affair and then we had 1 hour to hand it in. It was recommended that I store the sample somewhere warm (between thighs or boobs) during transit...
Can you imagine getting pulled over???

How long did he have to wait for results?

We’ve had two now. You normally have to hand it in an hour at the latest that the sample is collect. If you’re doing the business at home keep it warm in your pocket. Make sure he tries to get all of it in the pot. No ejaculations or sex at least two days before your forgot should have Told him that. We heard back in a week both times. Wishing you luck

When you say 'if' you do it at home . . . I'm guessing the other option is to do it at the doctors??

My DH has his next week and has been given the option of doing it at home or in the clinic. We don't have a car at the minute so he's going to have to do it in the clinic - can you imagine taking it on the bus?!

Think MrsJones has covered everything except we were also told DH had to ejaculate 4 days before... so no ejaculation for at least 2 days, but only up to as many as 4 if that makes sense?

Think he's nervous too but is hiding it well. Good luck xx

Yes you can do sample at clinic. We live over an hour away from hospital where sample was taken so both times DH had to do sample there. Apparently there’s a room you can book out!

DH has done 2 now. He was told to warm the pot up before hand.
The expectation was that he took the pot home to do the sample but we live too far so the poor bloke had to nip into the toilets at the hospital which wasn't ideal.

First sample we waited a month for the results. This time it's been a week and countingHmm

I think DH would get stage fright if he had to do it at the Drs, we're only max 20 mins away if the traffic's bad so should manage at home. Thanks for the info everyone.
