Hello, (posted on travel forum too) looking for some advice / experience. I'm going on holiday to the Dominican Republic at the end of August. I went to the doctors today to have my travel jabs. The recommended jabs are Typhoid and Tetanus. She gave me the Typhoid one but refused my Tetanus as I'm trying to conceive. She didn't seem to be too concerned but Just said 'try not to stand on anything sharp or rusty'. Not sure about the risks abroad without tetanus. Should I phone back up and request one?? Anyone been ttc and went abroad without tetanus?
Thanks ! Smile

That's bizarre, you can definitely get tetanus vaccine in pregnancy...

Isn't the Dominican Republic an area affected by the Zika virus in any case?

@FutureFairyCrayon hi. What do you mean?

Oh, that’s a good point. If it’s just you I believe you need to wait 6 weeks to TTC, but Zika stays in semen much longer and for men they need to wait 6 months before TTC after any possible exposure (a lot of people don’t feel sick even if they get infected, so you might not know). Zika is really horrible for babies so I would definitely follow the recommendations.
