Feminax side effect or unwanted pregnancy?! HELP!!!

Guys need a spot of advice as its the 3rd day im at my wits end and dont want to discuss with family or friends until ive made sense of stuff in my own head.

Im 28yo married for 2 years and we have an 11 month old son. After unexpectedly having him only 4 months after marriage i got an IUD straight away to prevent any more babies (permanently for now)

On Saturday evening I felt THAT cramp and was sure my heavy period was on its way ( post IUD periods are v heavy and painful). So i decided to take 2 feminax ultra tablets straight away to help control them. Sadly i had no blood sunday, monday or tuesday and yday after having a huge breakdown finally some blood. Was relieved!! BUT it was v light and this morning went to pee it seemed my period had ended?! 30 mins ago went to pee again and theres more blood. (Sorry TMI perhaps).

My q is in any or your experience has a potent painkiller like feminax reduced the flow of your period that drastically? Or do i have to start preparing myself and DH for dreaded baby number 2. I really dont want anymore children and we rarely have sex so this is a huge shock and totally unplanned or wanted hence the IUD :(

Feminax ultra is naproxen.

A short period is not a side effect of naproxen

The only way to know is to take a pregnancy test.

It is really beyond unlikely that you're pregnant if you have an IUD and you've had a bleed. I wouldn't even spend the money on a test.

Thanks I have just got the clearblue ones

I think for my sanity and to stop this sinking feeling (hopefully) i will have to take 1. I feel awful because i know people are desperate for kids and here I am totally against it but its just not what i want

Clear blue might not pick up an early pregnancy.

I can't quite tell but if you still have your iud I'd be more worried something had gone wrong with that than pregnancy.

@questionablemouse Going to do a test and then tomorrow straight to my sexual health clinic regardless of outcome to get IUD checked.

Ok UPDATE

Done a clearblue & it said not pregnant!! Relieved beyond belief. I now am convinced its the IUD or feminax Hmm

It won't be the feminax, it's not a side effect. It's a pain killer not something to reduce the flow.

QuestionableMouse · 02/05/2018 19:22

naproxen is actually really good at reducing bleeding. So is ibuprofen.

Clear blue may not be accurate with a very early pregnancy. I really doubt that you're pregnant though. Glad you're getting seen tomorrow though because my money would be on an iud problem.

Ibuprofen definitely reduces bleeding and Naproxen is the same family of medication so it's not impossible that it's reduced your flow. Your body may also just be settling down with the IUD
