Feeling sad today. Am due on tomorrow and have a stark white negative test :( been off the pill since December and starting to worry. Feeling deflated this morning.

Just looking for people's experiences of acupuncture? Do you have a set course or number of sessions? Would you recommend it?

Yes I’d recommend it. I had it done at a local place to me with a lovely lady who didn’t promise anything (as they shouldn’t) but who listened to me sob over a miscarriage and subsequent trying for 6 months situation and quite rightly suggested we approach it as a way of tuning out the noise in my head and having some relaxing time for me. Yes she worked on specific areas though have no idea whether that ‘worked’ or not IYSWIM
I went every 2-3 ish weeks and was pregnant within 6. Had Accupuncture all throughout my pregnancy and moxibustion to turn him which I reckon did work!
I loved it. Not saying I’d give it credit for conception honestly but as a form of relaxation and time for myself it was a winner. My hospital offer it to pregnant mums so I’m signed up to another course in this pregnancy too

I did it, after we'd had an unexplained infertility diagnosis. I got pregnant - whose to say whether it was the acupuncture or not! I had it weekly for about 6 weeks, then monthly.

One thing I liked about acupuncture was that they look at the whole person. Taking my medical history took about 45 minutes. I actually really appreciated that after a series of 5 minute GP appointments. She also included some points for relaxation/anti anxiety.

Of course I'm sure you've read that it's too early for you to worry, you need to allow a year. But I know how tough it is.

Yes I did, I had to have IVF to conceive and I had acupuncture for 3 months before we started, throughout the treatment and a couple of days after embryo transfer. I now have a 10 year old.

From a hormonal side I thought it was amazing. I used to suffer every month and after one treatment I had no pain etc. I also slept better.

If you do go for it, make sure they are experienced with fertility issues as it's expensive.

Good luck

Thank you all for taking the time to reply and share your experiences. Congratulations on your babies and children :) glad to hear you'd all recommend it. I've had a look and there is a practitioner locally who specialises in fertility and is registered. I'm wondering about the relaxation element of acupuncture as there is some ongoing stress that I can't control and is affecting my mood, more so this weekend as I'm due on so wondering if even for that reason it might just help me feel better in myself.

I built my hopes up this month as I've recently got married and thought how lovely it would be to be pregnant after our honeymoon so it's hit me harder. I'm not out yet as no af yet. I think I'd feel better if it had come. You guys have given me hope though (and I know it's such early days) can't seem to switch my brain off :(

I am ttc and have been having acupuncture with a practitioner who specialises in fertility. I've only been going about 6 weeks or so - she makes my appointments in line with approximately the start of my cycle and around ovulation. I've had two MMC so I've had a Chinese tea and some supplements and after taking my medical history I feel like I have a bit more insight into what's going on with my health. I also feel a bit less anxious as I feel like I'm having some help now after two MMC. I definitely feel it's beneficial for me, I'm looking to find more ways to relax and of course the aim is to relax during the sessions. I just thought it couldn't hurt to try it! I've got nothing to lose!

I tried for 18 months to conceive. Then I visited a fertility acupuncturist for one session a week for one month. I fell pregnant that month. I am utterly convinced it helped me. Even if it helped me relax enough to fall pregnant. It certainly did something! And it was a very lovely experience. Go for it!!

Good luck! Thanks

It took me 19 months to get my first bfp, which ended in mc at 7 1/2 weeks (last November). February this year I started going to an acupuncturist and after 2 months of that I'm now 5 weeks pregnant. I do really believe it helped, not just re-balance me, but a chance to chat about my life, offload a little (cry), have some 'me' time. After every session I felt like I'd been "re-set" - ready to face the world again, if that doesn't sound too twee.

I'm going to continue to go during my pregnancy and hope it helps this one be a sticky bean. I can't wait to tell my acupuncturist the news tomorrow - she's going to be so happy for me!

Thank you for replying. Really good to hear positive experiences :) fingers crossed @russiandwarf and congratulations @ChipsAndKetchup and @SoozC :)

I chatted to my husband last night and was honest about how I've been feeling. I'm definitely someone who doesn't like uncertainty so ttc is a challenge for me! We decided to try opk and bbt this month and I'll look at booking a consultation on my next cycle. Feel a bit better about having talked to my partner and having a bit of a plan.
