We tried for 3 years before getting pregnant with DC1. We would like to try for another baby & really hope it won't take this long again. It was tough Sad what are your experiences? Anyone fallen quicker the second time around trying? Thanks in advance.

18 months with DC1, 2 months with DC2 which I was really surprised about. I think it helped that inbetween I'd had no hormone contraception.
Good luck

DramaAlpaca · 22/04/2018 22:27

It took me a year with DC1 but it happened the first time of trying with DC2.

I was in total shock, especially as DC1 was only 7 months & I was still breastfeeding.

Mumlife101 · 22/04/2018 22:32

@startingtheengine I havent been on any hormone contraceptive for the same reason, is don't want it to mess with my system! Thanks for the reply. It gives me hope Smile
@drama wow I bet that was a shock!! 😂 I would completely prefer that to another 3 years of obsession & heart ache though! My DD is almost 10 months & still BF too. Planning on weaning at 12 months & starting to track cycles & TTC there after... if it happened by chance in the mean time then fab! Smile

DC1 took a year of TTC. DC2 was the first go Grin Very surprised but very happy not to get caught up in the monthly stresses.
Good luck!

@oneday ahh that's fantastic. I have this niggling hope that now my body has done it once it'll be easier to do it again 😬 Wishful thinking! But these comments are sounding positive so far...!

Primrose16 · 23/04/2018 08:34

To conceive DC1 17months with a mc and a mmc. No joy with DC2 yet. 2 mc so far in 5 months.

Rose2887 · 23/04/2018 08:56

My dd who’s 9 was immediately and this time I’m about 5 weeks pregnant and conceived straight away again!!! Both times a shock 😂

CookPassBabtridge · 23/04/2018 09:09

I got pregnant on the second time of dtd after deciding to try.. Which was great as sex without condoms stings me for some reason so I was dreading it! He even wore condoms while I was pregnant Grin

Hi,

3.5 years and an unsuccessful ivf cycle before falling pregnant with DD naturally.

Conceived straight away when we started ttc#2 but ended in MMC. Conceived 3 months later but sadly ended on tfmr. Then conceived a year later - I'm now almost 32 weeks.

I was prescribed cyclogest the month I finally conceived this time around and had had some tests which showed a clotting disorder so have been on daily injections and low dose aspirin since BFP.

Good luck and hope it happens quickly for you x

DC1 took 4-5 months. Conceived much quicker- first cycle with second pregnancy but it recently ended in a MMC. (I put the MMC down to bad luck/my age 42). I think if you're someone who has had difficulties conceiving in the past, you should TTC while DC is under a year or as close to the 6 month mark as possible as having recently given birth does seem to provide a boost to conception chances.

DC1 was a very fortunate and happy accident when I was 32 years old. Now I am 38 and been TTC #2 for 1 year now, with 2 MC (Nov 17 and Feb 18). Now 5 weeks pregnant, but not celebrating until I have an actual baby in my arms ☺️

ChipsAndKetchup · 23/04/2018 11:42

DC1 took 18 months of trying. I had fertility acupuncture and then fell immediately after that.
So when DC1 was 9 months old we thought we better crack on with ttc DC2 as it took so long first time round. Then boom first month I fell pregnant. So now have 2 with an 18 month age gap. Fun times. Grin

I want to reply to all of you ladies but mumsnet layout does not make it easy!!
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences!
I'm so sorry to you ladies who have had a m/c..
& to the lady who is 5 weeks gone I really hope you have a wonderful healthy pregnancy & a gorgeous baby in 8 months!
I tend to agree with you about TTC soon as it took so long the last time & if it did happen quickly we would adjust & be just as happy. But I'm not going to bother actively until I completly stop breastfeeding in 10ish weeks (DD will be 1) my cycles are all over the show...!

We fell first time with #1 4 years ago after I told dh to prepare for a long wait. We have just started ttc again for #2 and I'm feeling nervous as I was prepared for the long run last time, but as it happened so quickly this time I don't feel ready for the long haul even though I am most definitely expecting a tougher ride this time.

RosieWoodCelt · 24/04/2018 14:10

My DC#2 took nearly a year to conceive. If honest it had negative effect on my marriage as I dreaded being intimate just to conceive. I am not into intimacy on the whole - once a month girl - but the year TTC was stressful. Not enjoyable

Almondsupreme · 24/04/2018 14:14

Took 6 months but had a m/c then took 6 more months (we took a 2 month gap after MC so 8 months after that).
