Feeling nervous.....

Went for pre-op assessment today for laparoscopy. I wasn’t scared but now all feels very real and I’m nervous.

  1. Scared I’ll wake up during procedure
  2. Scared about what they’ll find and if they can’t remove it.
Getting myself worked up- HELP! X

ALSO- reading through pre-procedure details. It says they may go through the vagina to perform some of the surgery. Has anyone had this? X

What is it for? I had a laparoscopy to remove several dermoid cysts in January and it was fine, there is no way you will wake up mid procedure the anaesthetist will be monitoring you the whole time. Flowers

I’ve had unexplained pelvic pain since my miscarriage in January, so they are just going to have a look and hopefully remove anything they find. I’ve never had an operation before x

I hadn't either but it really wasn't that bad, you'll be sore and need to take it easy for maybe a couple of weeks (depending on how long you're under anaesthetic and how much they need to do). Take sanitary towels as you may have a bit of bleeding and big comfy pants, and I used peppermint oil capsules to help get rid of the trapped gas, and senokot as a general makes you constipated, it's very glamorous! You'll be fine, hope they fix whatever's been causing it all Smile

You won’t wake up during the procedure they will make sure of it. They are very good at this sort of thing. Have you also had scans already?

Kate8989 · 20/04/2018 07:22

I had an internal scan and they couldn’t find anything, so said the next step is a laparoscopy. I wasn’t nervous before, I’ve actually been looking forward to finding out what’s causing the pain. Now I can’t stop thinking about the procedure x

Kate, your fear is normal. But this too shall pass. You're in the hands of people who have done this hundreds of times. Trust in them.

Hope you're doing ok.

I’m not doing great..... my psychological state is terrible but I know I need to get my physical pain sorted first before sorting my head out. I sob every single day... I’ve been in bed all week xq
