Hi all,
My first is now nearly 14 months and we would like to try for number 2 soon, however I am still breastfeeding and am not having periods still. Does anyone have much experience of this? Do I really need to stop bf to get my period back?

Breastfeeding used to be considered a fairly reliable contraceptive but I fell pregnant 3 times whilst breastfeeding so I guess the answer is that you can get pregnant but are less likely to

How often does your baby feed? You could consider night weaning, or dropping some daytime feeds, rather than stop completely and see if your periods come back. I conceived DC2 whilst breastfeeding DC1, but both times my periods came back early despite feeding round the clock. (Sigh).

We're down to a feed before bed, first thing and usually a night feed and no sign of periods yet. Am intending to cut the before bed one next and see what happens. I guess everyone's body reacts differently as I know some friends who got periods back as soon as they dropped a feed

Hi, I think there’s a couple of threads running about this. There’s some interesting articles linked on the following thread! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3130100-TTC-while-breastfeeding?pg=5&order=

Not sure how I missed that. I'll take a look. Thanks
