Hey all. So i had to have a termination 31/12/17 when i was 21 weeks due to fetal abnormalities. We were devastated. We are now TTC since 7/3/18 due my period on friday and i honestly think it will kill me if my period arrives. Its all i think about. Has anyone else been in this situation?

Hi Laura,
I lost my daughter in October 2017 at 26 weeks due to fetal abnormalities. We had gone through two years of fertility treatment to get her. Amazingly I have fallen pregnant again, and it's bloody terrifying. It will happen for you, but it will just be a rollercoaster from start to finish that few will be able to understand after what you went through x

Hi,

Sadly yes I was. I had a tfmr in October 2016. We started ttc a few months later but it took us a year before we conceived. It won't have been anything to do with the tfmr - it took us over 3 years to conceive dd so seems to just take us a long time. I'm now 30 weeks. I've found the pregnancy hard and anxiety ridden - every scan has been a painful reminder of what happened last time,

I found the time we were ttc very difficult as well. Every month that af arrived was very hard. We got through it by saying we'll try till x date and then go and get seen privately (because of our history).

I hope everything works out for you and am so sorry you've been through what you have x

I’m with you know.
I was incredibly unwell when we terminated last August. I’m hoping it will happen.
Every period is horrible for me. But I’m pushing through
Flowers for you both.

I had a tfmr in 2016 , I was 21 weeks and my baby had a fatal disability. After a few months (her due date had passed) I wanted to become pregnant so much it hurt.

I took folic acid (high dose) and fell pregnant quickly , we now have a 5 month old little boy. As much as I don't regret our decision to try again so soon , it's been a tough road. I was anxious throughout pregnancy and still feel guilty when I look at my beautiful boy.

I'll be thinking of you op. You've suffered and it's a hard thing to carry with you. Stay strong and good luck with everything.

@magicfajita how long did it take you to conceive?

Yes, I had a surgical termination in April 2015. We’ve been ttc for nearly 19 months and still not pregnant. Hopefully you won’t have the same misfortune. As you’ve only been ttc again for one month, it’s not likely you will have conceived (not impossible but chances are very slim) Give your body a little while to recover and get back into the swing of things, don’t be too disheartened if it doesn’t happen again straight away. So sorry for your loss Flowers

@1987Laura we conceived the first month of trying. I hope it happens for you soon.

Try to spend time putting things in place for when you do conceive. Will you be happy to use the same hospital or will you choose another? Do you have a letter from the consultant that dealt with your tfmr on your file so that you can recieve extra attention? For example , due to our loss (spina bifida) we had extra scans for an early diagnoses if it happened again.

Also , and I probably don't even need to ask, is your diet full of leafy greens and iron and are you talking folic acid daily?

Good luck again , and do keep us updated on how you're getting on. You'll find understanding and support here.

@magicfajita ive been taking the pregnancg vitamins since just before we started trying again. Yeah my consultant said if i get pregnant again ive to phone her secretary and we will be taken under the care of fetal medicine with constant scans x

Hi Laura,
So sorry to hear of your loss and bfn today. I know it’s easy to say but try not to be disheartened, your body has got pregnant once and can do it again, it just may take a little time.

I had a tfmr in May last year at 16 weeks. I was devestated. It had also taken me nearly a year to get pregnant so was convinced there was something wrong with me and felt i would surely not be able to get pregnant again! It took me about 10 weeks to have a proper period after termination and i then conceived again in September on third cycle of trying.

I should say I did pretty much throw the kitchen sink at it the month we conceived this time - I was taking double strength folic acid, got DH to take high strength vit C and zinc, dtd every couple of days and then morning and night for 3 days as soon as started to get LH surge, used soft cups and pre-seed!

I’m now 32 weeks with a healthy baby :) it has been stressful in early days but I had lots of extra scans at beginning and doctors have all been lovely.
Please try not to worry, it’s still very early days after something so traumatic and you and your body need time to heal. If it’s not meant to be this cycle, perhaps do something nice which you wouldn’t be able to do if you were pregnant - book a spa day, weekend away etc - I found little things like that helped me to stay positive.
I really hope you get your rainbow bfp very soon
Xx
